The Islamic State has released images of the recent of an Iraqi helicopter that was shot down using a shoulder-fired missile, heightening fears in regard to the limitations of American airpower.
The Washington Post reported that IS used a Chinese-made heat-seeking MANPADS system at a helicopter, which shot a missile into an Mi-35M gunship.
The aircraft caught on fire and then crashed over the city of Baiji in northern Iraq.
Advanced systems like MANPADS, or man-portable air defense systems, present a particularly challenging threat for Iraqi forces. The U.S.-led bombing campaign in Iraq and Syria has been focused on conventional elements of the Islamic State’s military equipment, including tanks and artillery. MANPADS are highly portable and difficult to target.
“You’re not going to see a MANPADS until they fire,” said David Maxwell, associate director of the Center for Security Studies at Georgetown University. “It’s a very complex operation to suppress enemy air defenses, and I don’t know if the Iraqi army has the capability yet to conduct an integrated and combined fight of the likes it takes to defeat these kinds of capabilities.”(continued)

We should nuke them and blame Iran.
If Obama would have been successful in helping the MB get rid of Assad in Syria, and the Egyptians had not overthrown the MB who took over there (causing Obama to withdraw funding) then ISIS would have a major foothold and would be waltzing into Iraq with little opposition.
Libya would have joined them, Iran would not have held out for long, and then the king of Jordan would have fled for his life.
I have a nephew that earned a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star with valor in an all day fire fight in this town. Good men bled and died that day to secure Baiji and this weak President gave it all back to the bad guys.
Now we know where the 400 missiles (manpads) went....
There were 20,000 MANPADs.

the borders OPEN to let IS bring them into the USA.
That is perhaps the reason that no one, not even the GOP, wants to get the Benghazi affair out in the open and resolved.
The investigation is dragging its feet.
This is one of the huge tragedy's about all of this. People lost their lives to change the balance of power in the Middle East, give the people there an opportunity for freedom and self-determinism, and we just walked away and handed it to people who want to destroy our way of life. I don't think that it's because Obama is a ‘weak’ President, but is because he is a President who cannot or will not see beyond his own flawed ideology.
Wow! Imagine if we’d lost a Sherman tank in WW2 to a shoulder fired anti-tank gun! We would have lost!
