an independent run by a republican garantees that we get president clinton or president warren. It’s a ridiculous, treacherous idea, and the only current republican candidate that is self absorbed enough to even think about it is nutty rand paul.

Cruz is distinct from many of the other candidates in his party in that he has been more outspoken and more extreme in his conservatism than other candidates. Anthea, it would be interesting to hear you babble when you tried to define the word. Oh, wait, no it wouldn't.

As more and more Republicans become fed up to our eyeballs with ball-less R congress peeps, more of us are re-registering as Indy. I did it to send a message. Cruz brings me back in an instant. So yes, I agree there are fewer R's.
It'll be a landslide like '84, '88, '10, and '14 with no history making, white-guilt cleansing candidate. The "first" (black, woman, hispanic, gay) meme ain't gonna work.
