or could the real purpose of this be to deter people from attempting to join the Mile High Club?

Hey, We HAD a decent-sized toilet on the B-52. Trust me, I spent enough hours in them.. . .

I am with you. The seats are tiny as it is. Have they thought of double decker seats? Bunks?

I avoid flying like it’s kryptonite. Between the obnoxious TSA security theater and the slave ship-inspired seating on modern airliners, I only do it if my employer pays for the ticket, and it’s someplace they want me to go (e.g. a conference).

Where there are people there is poop. If they want people they have to take care of the poop. One reason why I avoid New York City.

Lesson in economics: Many years ago there were pay toilets. 5 cents got you into the place where you sit down and helped pay for the upkeep. Then liberals passed laws to make pay toilets illegal. Now there are not enough public toilets.

And these standards should be sized around a 6’ 2” 220 lbs male

Exactly what I am. I guess they'll just put a hole in the bulkhead. It'll be better than the tiny bathrooms they have now.

Making Smaller Seats For Wider Bodies

What’s next? Pay toilets?

Thank you for a wonderful idea. We are implementing it immediately. Do you have a suggestion for a stronger, much stronger deodorizing aerosol?

Make sure the airplane bathroom has a window you can open!

Makes it harder to join the mile high club

It'd be one at a time until they made the restrooms even too small for that.

Back in the 70s, Russian passenger planes were nothing but converted WWII cargo planes with seats. Not a single bolt or screw or rivet had been tightened since the war. The boarding tunnels hadn't found their way to Russia so you had to walk half a mile to the plane and just like tanks, you boarded up the back. Then you'd sit for an hour until someone's poor 80 year old grandma would drive up in a truck, climb on the wing and fuel it up. No gauges so she'd have to peek in to see if there was enough fuel (where's that rosary!). The seats were all broken so that you'd hope someone with long legs was behind you to hold your seat back up. They hadn't figured out to tack the carpet down the aisle so it was constantly rolled up. Snacks were always a Dixie cup of mineral water and a lemon drop. Barf bags didn't exist so passengers had to bring their own newspapers. I never had the courage to unbuckle and go back to the restroom so crossed my knees until we landed. I never saw anyone else brave enough either so took that as a sign. Well, the very last plane ride on the way back to Moscow to catch the flight home (you don't know what a welcome sight that blue circle on Pan Am was) I HAD to go so said a prayer and stumbled back to the restroom terrified of what I'd find. Ahhh, the heavens parted and angels sang! The restroom took up half the back of the plane with a lounge with a 1940-50s era couch and a couple of upholstered chairs and end tables. The toilet area was behind another door and was spacious. I spent the rest of the flight back there and still no one ever ventured in.

Boeing is reacting to what the airlines want. I can’t criticize them.

I’m just a bit surprised the airlines haven’t started selling vouchers for in-air restroom access, with swipe access control at a higher rate.

The new Boeing seating chart.

LOL! And the TSA is going to mandate the shackle's specifications.

I liked the airbus 340 we took to Munich. They had bathrooms downstairs in the cargo hold. Almost full sized.

Anyone remember the episode where Jed Clampett bought an airline and Jethro replaced the seats with benches?

Don’t be surprised if...

Can’t we go back to the 707?

In retrospect, it seems to be light-years ahead of the junk we have now....

I just feel soooooo sorry for the airlines. More fees is clearly what thy are needing!

I don't blame Boeing. They are really doing what their customers want.

The simple truth is that when people book flights, they buy the cheapest fare going where they want to go when they want to go. In that world, the only incentive is for the airlines to cram more people onto each plane and add fees. I was just on American, and they show a low fare, but then you discover that it's only available for middle seats. Aisle or window seats were "premium" and charged more. If you want to sit with your spouse, you had to cough up the money.

Wait a minute, wait a minute! If Boeing is going to design the diapers than the fee will have to be at least double or triple say more in the $100.00 to $150.00 dollar range. There will bound to be ‘accidents’ in early models caused by design and material flaws, so I say it will take them at least three years to come up with a usable model. Then there will be the inevitable design up grades which will lead to cost increases.

Of I almost forgot if you should have to us the diaper there will be Toxic disposal fee and Carbon offsets imposed by the EPA.
