This Independence Day is a time to mourn, and rekindle righteous indignation toward tyrants [Vanity]

Don't get me wrong. We'll be barbecuing tomorrow and greatly enjoying the fellowship of family and friends.

We'll be lighting off a few celebratory firecrackers, as John Adams suggested we should do.

We'll go to the local fireworks display and commemorate our national liberty and independence with our fellow citizens.

But, on this particular Independence Day, something important is missing. I can't help but mourn, as traitors, cowards, wicked men, and oath-breakers run amok in American halls of power.

To me, this is not a time to celebrate, but to call to memory the righteous indignation of our forefathers at the lawless actions of tyrants. It's a time to remember the fact that though they did not want war - no sane man wants war - they were willing to have war if that was what it was going to take to remain a free, self-governing people, sovereign under Almighty God.

It is a time to ask ourselves, and each other: What exactly are you willing to do to restore and preserve what they were willing even to die for?

I'm taking my flag down tonight. I'm not sure when or if I'll put it back up. To borrow a phrase from FLOTUS, for the first time in my adult entire life, I'm ashamed of my country.

We have a new U.S. flag that will have to wait yet another Independence Day for a time of true celebration.

However, for all the previous Independence Days and the reason for them, I will still celebrate and be grateful to all, military and civilian, who made the United States of America possible. Mostly, I am grateful to God who blessed us for a little while with a great nation. May this nation repent and beg for His blessing again, because only His grace and mercy can restore us.

I’m mourning. Not doing a thing but engaging in a memorial observation for the late great United States of America.

I heard the national anthem being sung on the radio while I was out at lunch today, “o’er the land of the free” was sung with such gusto and I thought, “what a farce”.

We aren’t free anymore. We are slaves to regulations and laws. We are compelled to buy insurance and pay taxes at constantly increasing rates when wages are not going up at all.

So sad. So hopeless.

I weep for the men who died for freedom and the republic. I weep for my family members who died in service to our ideals and I weep for my son who is giving the very best years of his life in service to a dying country increasingly populated by disrespectful ingrates and such a deceitful, and despicable government.

In memoriam. In mourning for what was and is now destroyed.

Will it be rebuilt? Can it be rebuilt? I am doubtful.

I’m laughing. I’m cynical, yes, maybe.

I’m laughing because I’m wondering just how much more we can do than we have done within the law? We all but gave a mandate at the election that has been ignored.

We call, we write, we have done everything short of tar and feathers and running the bastards out of the capitol on a rail. That sounds like a great idea to me.

If I said what I was willing and able to do, I would probably have the Feds at my door in the morning....

It’s best that I leave that as one of those things that you find out when the party starts.

I understand.

We still have the ability to easily turn this country around by perfectly peaceful, constitutional, and legal political means.

If I ever come to the place where I don’t believe that to be the case, you most certainly won’t see me on the internet.

There is none...

What has to happen is for the States to take control via a CC.

One could make a effort to force Congress to use it’s powers, but they never have. If they gave a damn they could have done that back in the 1930s when justice Hugo Black totally screwed the religious freedom clause by trying to go after Jews. It’s unlikely that they would regulate SCOTUS, but they have the power to do so and limit their scope.

I have been reflecting a bit and humbly and with some trepidation expressing opinion in a vanity post earlier this week.

Non violent resistance is the only reasonable starting place. It isn’t right to hate or hurt others, but if non violent resistance is met with violence, escalation is likely.

I suspect propaganda and spreading fear will be used to suppress any protest movement that could arise but harsher measures than those used by Bull Connor are likely.

In 1961 some of the Freedom Riders got a taste of harsh prison life at Mississippi’s Parchman Prison.

I support Ted Cruz and a sober and sane third party alternative to the GOP, but the Republican Party will not as an institution oppose the tyranny that has descended upon us.
