Dear Trump: stop attacking the other candidates - focus on the real enemies...Boehner & McConnell
one man's opinion...

Donald Trump has a unique opportunity in the next 5 weeks to further shake up the GOP race, and to increase his support among the GOP base. It could also shape the race to his advantage, and put considerable pressure on his opponents.

Trump's been busy attacking everyone and anything. That's politics. As one wag put it over 100 years ago, "politics ain't beanbag." And his attacks are having some success. After first vowing to ignore "Mr. Trump," Jeb Bush has suddenly felt the need to respond, and to launch his own offensive, decrying Trump as "not a real conservative."

But unfocused attacks aren't necessarily a good thing. Trump couldn't resist the impulse last night to take yet another whack at Megyn Kelly. While that will play well to those who already support him, it's not likely to gain him any new fans.

Instead, Trump would be far better off to temporarily suspend attacks against the other candidates, and instead direct his considerable firepower against the the two Republicans most reviled and despised by the GOP base: Boehner and McConnell.

The timeline works especially well for this new offensive.

1. The next GOP debate is Sept. 16th.

2. McConnell and Boehner have already failed in one effort to defund Planned Parenthood, despite their endless statements that they're gonna do so.

3. Boehner and McConnell are desperate to avoid a government shutdown Sept 30th. Most conservatives in Congress will not vote for a CR that includes any funding for PP.

4. Trump has already publicly gone on record saying he would support a shutdown to defund PP.

5. Every poll has shown that defunding PP, by any possible means, enjoys near 100% support among Republicans.

In other words, all the pieces are in place for a decisive battle. Trump can lead it, and he should rush to do so.

A simple statement gets the ball rolling. Something like this:

What we have seen in the Planned Parenthood videos is abhorrent, disgusting. There is no way that Americans should be forced to support this via their tax dollars one day longer than necessary. Funding ends on Sept 30th, and if necessary, if the Democrats are not willing to remove funding from the CR, then I fully support shutting down the government. This is where we make our stand. Stopping Planed Parenthood will save thousands of innocent lives every day, including the lives of thousands of black babies. Because, yes, my friends, the lives of ALL unborn babies matter to us."

"There is overwhelming support in the Republican controlled Congress for doing this, yet the leadership, Boehner and McConnell, are COWARDS. They are afraid to act, because they're worried that they'll get blamed for a shutdown. They are STUPID!!"

"I am today calling, no.... demanding that they do the right thing, and if they aren't willing to do so, then I am calling on conservatives in Congress to immediately replace them."

And then, Donald, though this will no doubt be very hard for you to do, just sit back, smile, be quiet, and relax for a few days, and WATCH WHAT HAPPENS.

Boehner and McConnell are just about the cause of everything wrong in the GOP. Lying, spineless weasels get a bad name from those two. Trump's candidacy is just him picking the low hanging fruit of voter discontent.

I’m sure that Trump’s team is avidly searching the FR and other conservative sites for campaign advice.

Do I really need a sarc tag?

When Trump attacks a RINO like Bush he is also attacking the GOPe. Hasn’t he said time and again how ineffective our leaders are both Democrat and Republican?

Trump is a counter-puncher. Always has been. It’s his nature.

Most other candidates did not study him or examine his history, so they started throwing punches not expecting to get hit back.

Cruz hasn’t punched because he knows what Trump is about, and Cruz holds his fire against most anyway.

Carson is a nice guy and doesn’t want to play dirty, so no punches from him.

Santorum and Huckabee haven’t thrown punches at Trump.

Guess who Trump hasn’t attacked? Those who didn’t throw punches at him.

When the GOP elite goes after Trump, Trump goes after them. It isn’t that he is unfocused. Quite the opposite. He is very focused on winning. And if you get in his way, if you challenge him, he will knock you over.

It isn’t very strategic. But it is working so far.

Instead, Trump would be far better off to temporarily suspend attacks against the other candidates,

Why would he do that? Don't you see the attacks that are heaped upon him?

He has to fight back, and he should. Romney didn't fight back. In fact, he let a media bimbo tell him to sit down when he should have let her know that he was a candidate for the top post in our government. By following her order, he showed himself to be WEAK.

We don't need weak, we need strength. And, we need someone who is not afraid to stand up against these assaults.

The problem, as I see it, is that most men in our culture have become feminized and not willing to stand up and fight back. They would rather slink away with their tails between their legs like whipped dogs.

Finally, I don't think Trump is unfocused. I think he knows exactly what he is up against and where the enemies are and he is doing what is necessary to vanquish them. A good defense is an offense that is constantly on the attack.

When he has, if that is the way it is to work out, vanquished his present opponents, then he can turn his attention to the main opponent, whomever that might be.

No no, you're behind the times on the NEW FR. I bet you think "limited government" and the "Constitution" are important too. What a fool (you and I are). Those don't matter. Liberal populism is the new FR conservatism.

He will get to Boner and McConnell. No need to give him advice on strategy. Just sit back and let him roll. He’s hitting the people in the order he wants to. And its working. He’s like a hundred dollar bill in a trailer park. Picking up everything.

Trump only attacks those who shoot first.
Ex: McCain calling Trump supporters crazie, Megyn Kelly’s blatant smear campaign/debate.

Trump is looking to be chosen amongst a large field, and needs to overcome his current obstacles to do so which are the other candidates. Once he gets the nomination he will focus on other people.

So far as I know, he hasn’t attacked anyone who hasn’t attacked him first, either by proxy, spokesperson, campaign operative, media operative, or personally.

Trump doesn’t just sit around whining about attacks. He attacks back.

Trump is no dummy. He seems to me to be going after the source.

I believe Trump is devouring the money changers who make it possible for the McConnells and the Boehners to be bought off and cheerfully betray conservatives.

This ain’t a student council election at elementary school.

Trump should say whatever he wants to say and let the chips fall where they may.

This falls into the realm of election strategy, where I’m no expert. But, I think that attacking too early risks getting the GOPe more desperate and motivated to do underhanded things to undermine Trump’s candidacy... like keeping him off the ballot in some states.

Might it be better to win a couple of primaries first? Then the GOPe would be cutting their own throats by stepping in front of the train. And, Trump would be free to speak about cleaning the GOP house as well as the halls of government.

“I bet you think “limited government” and the “Constitution” are important too. “

Yeah Ed, we thought they were important to the GOP too.

But we gave McConnell and Boehner the keys to the things you mention and they not only refused to enter, they prevent others from entering therein.

Congrats @LindseyGrahamSC. You just got 4 points in your home state of SC—far better than zero nationally. You’re only 26 pts behind me.

@linda_lcarson: @realDonaldTrump Rubio and Bush cant say Wall. I guess it is not pc. Just like obama cant say islamic terrorists !!

Jeb Bush just talked about my border proposal to build a “fence.” It’s not a fence, Jeb, it’s a WALL, and there’s a BIG difference!
