Heartbreaking pictures should not change policy
WA Today (Australia) ^ | September 6, 2015 | Fraser Nelson

The photographs of the body of Aylan Kurdi, a three-year-old Syrian boy, vividly convey the human tragedy on Europe's borders - but not the complexity. Many are fleeing war, but many are fleeing poverty.

This Great Migration was not expected because, for years, politicians believed that there would be less of it as poor countries became richer. Give aid, not shelter, ran the argument. "As the benefits of economic growth are spread in Mexico," Bill Clinton once assured Americans, "there will be less illegal immigration because more Mexicans will be able to support their children by staying home." When Jose Manuel Barroso led the European Commission, he made the same argument: only third world development will tackle the "root causes" of the problem. In fact, the reverse is true.

Pictures shouldn't change policy but they can because if not altered they can reveal hidden truth. It is Truth that this world needs even if the liars are teaching there is no such thing. Satanic as usual.

Revealing the truth is especially dangerous because it oftentimes reveals our own responsibility for doing nothing. Like staying home and not voting.

I'm not sure what the article says ... haven't read it yet, but HERE'S some "flee-ers" in Hungary ... so very happy and grateful to be out of their hell hole and into a country that will give them a chance on a new life.

So they throw away food and beverages that were provided to them for free. Too many of these migrants are young men as well. How many of them are really soldiers for the advancement of Islam and the takeover of Europe for the caliphate?

Who will be left in their old country?

What will these additions to European nations do to available jobs for citizens?

Like America's illegal trespassers, they need to be sent back from whence they came pronto!

Are you in Hungary? I’m 1/2 Hungarian and have been keeping track a bit. Grandparents came through Ellis Island as kids. Anyway, here is the best part of the article.

“Never has there been less global hardship; since Clinton’s day, the share of the population in extreme poverty (surviving on less than $US1.25 a day) has halved. Never has there been less violence: the Syrian conflict is an exception in a period of history where war has waned. It might not feel like it, but the world is more prosperous and peaceful than at any time in human history - yet the number of emigrants stands at a record high. But there is no paradox. As more people have the money to move, more are doing so - and at extraordinary personal risk.

So the Great Migration is a side effect of perhaps the greatest success of our times: the collapse in global poverty. The Washington-based Center for Global Development recently set this out, in a study drawing on more than a thousand national censuses over five decades. When a poor country becomes richer, its emigration rate rises until it becomes as wealthy as Albania or Armenia are today. This process usually takes decades, and only afterwards does wealth subdue emigration. War is a catalyst. If conflict strikes, and the country isn’t quite as poor as it once was, more of those affected now have the means to cross the world. The digital age means they also have the information.”

Have you read any more reports about the 12 Christians thrown overboard by muslims on one of the boats reaching Italy?

All I know is this travesty is Obama’s fault. How the world is going to recover from his botched foreign policy is beyond me.

Whoever came up with this idea must have gotten a star for their forehead. Imagine the slow grin emerging from Muslim leaders as they contemplated, “Why didn't we do this sooner?”. With the help of a complicit media, anything can be accomplished. I'd be surprised if Obama’s fingerprint isn't on this ruse somewhere.

"How the world is going to recover from his botched foreign policy is beyond me."

"Botched" suggests a failure in execution. This is no accident.

It’s almost as though the media thinks that people like to have their hearts broken and will flock to see “heartbreaking pictures” and that if people can express their heartbreak, it means they should be seen as good people. “Look at me, I’m a good person because I obeyed the media and looked at their heartbreaking pictures and let everybody know that it broke my heart too...And did I tell you?...I’m a good person!”

There are endless reports of how Muslims treat their children as tools and weapons in their wars against Jews, Christians and other Muslims. Mothers raise children to be trained and used as human bombs and child warriors. This one picture is another weapon against the West. It may or may not be an accidental drowning, but life is very cheap to Muslims and it is certainly possible that the child and picture are staged or enhanced to maximum effect against a EU and Western European leadership more than willing to be complicit in the mass Islamist invasion of Europe.
