The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) posted a video on its website to tell Americans that they should think about how much food they waste during the holiday season if they want to help save the planet.
The video is part of the EPA's "Fight Food Waste" campaign.
In the video posted on YouTube and in the text accompanying it, EPA claims that food waste contributes to climate change. [...]
"Once in landfills, food breaks down to produce methane, a potent greenhouse gas which contributes to climate change," the text states. "So, this holiday season, take steps to cut down your food waste." ...

Should we all stop eating so as to eliminate human flatus?
The ultimate goal of EPA is to eliminate humans- all but themselves
This joke of an agency needs to be abolished.
The environmental disaster that YOU have never heard of: Shocking thermal video shows ‘unprecedented’ outpouring of methane in Los Angeles that has been spewing out noxious fumes for two months
“A massive gas leak is erupting from an energy facility in Aliso Canyon, California, causing one of the biggest environmental disasters in US history.
Residents have reportedly fallen ill from the noxious fumes which have been spewing into the air at the rate of 110,000 pounds per hour since October.
A video taken last week by an Earthworks ITC-certified thermographer shows a geyser of methane gas come out from the Earth.”
[[Every modern landfill is set up with piping designed to capture the methane and route it to a standpipe where it is burned off. ]]
Those pipes are art pieces /s
See, they don't spend tax dollars any more. When it was tax dollars, you had something to say about it. Now, they borrow from people who also, being yet unborn, don't have anything to say about it.
All of the food that my family doesn’t finish goes either in the freezer or refrigerator, and is eaten later.
What do these jackasses want? Are we supposed to eat the freakin’ BONES, TOO?!
If only we could spread that illegal immigration contributes to climate change, since there is not a single case of a single illegal immigrant who’s carbon footprint did not increase by at least two orders of magnitude.
I drive by our local landfill at night a few times a month and the flare from the landfill is quite impressive. Particularly now that the landfill mound is about 200 feet above grade.
No more wasted food.
Is there ANYYHING about my life these busybodies donât know how to make better?
We have been eating leftovers since Heck was a pup. Now we
do have vegetable peelings, etc. Those things go into the
compost pile here for the garden.
EPA GFY!
I don’t waste food and there is no greenhouse warming.
presumably we should keep it and eat it. Not only will this stop climate change, but a lot of folks will die of food poisoning, thus lowering the population of idiots who obey the government guidelines.
sarcasm off
Yep. It’s called the carbon cycle. Fifth grade science class. And methane fixing bacteria do the same thing with methane instead of CO2.
I smile and imagine I am sticking my middle finger up in the air at the EPA every time I enjoy a big, thick, juicy rib-eye steak from one of our cows.
Take that you commie bastards!
Through the study of core samples of ice and other climate studies, we know that CO2 works in a cyclic process. Photosysthesis, CO2 is used by plant life and blue green algae (cycanobacteria). These we can call the photosynthesizers. As free oxygen is released into the atmosphere atmospheric CO2 is being depleted. If photosynthesis uses too much CO2 the Earth cools due to CO2’s reduced green house effect. As this cooling effect progresses, the Earth could get so cold that all life would no longer exist. The Earth would become frozen in ice with a high amount of atmospheric oxygen and CO2 levels so low that there would be little greenhouse effect. Luckily, this does not happen because there are what they call, methanogens which utilize the waste products and leftovers of the photosynthesizers for their metabolism and generate methane and carbon dioxide as a byproduct. They also create that organic stuff call petrochemicals. This balance between the photosynthesizers and the methanogens is the true story of the Earth’s temperature regulation.
If the Earth gets too warm, due to an increase in solar activity, the photosynthesizers kick in because increased temperatures promote their growth. As the oceans fill up with more algae and there is more plant life, more CO2 is being used. They will continue in the feast mode until they cause the Earth to chill. This reduction in temperature is not conducive to the photosynthesizers. Their growth will slow and reach that equilibrium when the optimum Earth’s temperature is reached. In short, we all don’t need to buy electric cars to combat global warming. We can let the photosynthesizers and the methanogens do the work for us.
There is the theory that seven hundred million years ago, Earth’s oceans were completely frozen over. Involved in this theory is the CO2 cycle, which I explained above. No rivers flowed, no rain or snow fell. Life was limited to simple plants and bacteria at the time and were severely depleted. It was because of the belching of CO2 by volcanic activity that the greenhouse effect warmed the earth. However, the CO2 was depleted again when organic life consumed the CO2 available in the atmosphere. The earth once again became a snowball. It took time, but the effect of the methanogens enabled the earth to warm enough for the photosynthesizers to reverse the warming effect of the methanogens. This cycle occurred several times until the last ice ages ended, about 565 million years ago. Since then, the earth has gone through dips and gradual warming until almost all of the ice has melted. This tells us that climate change occurs without man’s effect.
“Finish your dinner, children in Africa are sweating”
EPA: ‘Liberals speaking causes global warming....’
Leftovers get eaten in the metmom household.
It’s one less meal for me to cook for anyone.
They don’t get thrown out. Not with the time and money invested in making the meal.
The EPA is full of it.
