Hi Yall!
My son's preschool teacher asked me to find a children's book about Martin Luther King Jr. for next week. Does anyone have any advice on a good one? s
Thanks in advance! BamaGirl

Nice idea, but you are overlooking the fact that this is for a pre-school class. We need something with pictures!Oops :-)

Um, not to appear overly suspicious or anything, but why are they teaching little kids who are barely aware of their own existence about some long-dead quasi-political figurehead? Just seems kind of odd to me, m’dear...

Not sure if Hoover’s FBI files on MLK have been released, but they’d make very exciting reading for the kiddies!

I lived in GA as a child. I learned about MLK all the time, and I turned out okay. Plus, “long-dead quasi-political figurehead” is a description that could fit most of the people in American history.

I suggest his “I have a dream” speech.
Imagine informing children that your goal is to be judged by the content of your character.

"...Dr. King was a minister, what better way to honor him...." Actually Michael King was NOT an ordained minister, and since he plagiarized his thesis, is he really even a Dr.?

This glorification of Michael King is racial propaganda, pure and simple.
No one benefits from adulating him.

Start with

Or you can always go with Darwin's Origin of the Species and Descent of Man--two books King and his admirers embrace wholeheartedly.
