A BROKERED CONVENTION

Posted on 03/05/2016 6:13:31 AM PST by DIRTYSECRET

If Trump gets less than 50% of the delegates it will be too risky to vote in someone else. Everything is negotiable, right? Here's my plan: Trump AGREES to serve only 4 years if nominated and elected. Cruz as VP. Cruz picks Supreme Court nominees. Trump has 4 years to make America great again. In 2020 the delegates(or the RNC) can vote to give him another 4 years. If he is not what he says he is America will survive. Trump will not have the upper hand under this plan. If he doesn't like it he can pound sand. Thoughts? (ain't I smart?)

Don’t think a single person in power will entertain something so convoluted, nor are they inclined to do any of this (without being forced).

Totally not enforceable. Probably unconstitutional. Idiot plan.

So, you win the White House and the day he is sworn in, he is a lame duck. Sure.

What could possibly go wrong.

Plus, Mark your vanities.

It’s not anyone’s right or job to limit the US president to a single term except the American voter

That would be an illegal contract, and Trump 20.0 won’t give a hoot about verbal agreements.

Sorry. Cruz has disgraced himself as a lying, race-baiting, two-faced globalist. Hell.... vote for Hillary and get the real deal instead of a hypocrite.

Since Trump will lose to Hillary, it's a moot point.

Trump fans should note that he is already reneging on immigration. Levin was quite upset about this last night. But Trump fans, I am sure, will not care, as they are beyond the point of reason.

Would never happen. There will be an uprising if the GOPe doesn’t cut out this crap.

I know I would never vote for a person who was “given” the nomination.

I will stay home and all the down ticket candidates can go to hell with the rest of us.

Idiot plan

Not an idiot plan. Trump will be 70 at inauguration. I would imagine he'd want to get back to his family and empire after four years. Anyone (not just Cruz) who could bring in the votes would make it a win-win for that person.

If the nomination is STOLEN from Trump no Republican will win, anyone who wasn't a 100% Trump supporter will be purged. (I say stolen because by this time anyone else would've been declared prohibitive favorite). The Republican Party will be over. But if Trump's successful the person who goes along with the deal is practically guaranteed the presidency in four years.

Don't underestimate Kasich. He just might be smart enough to figure it out. Notice he wasn't part of the tag-teaming?

Logical fallacy, too few alternatives.

Trump has a very good chance of beating Hillary.

I hope you didn’t spend a lot of time on this.

Practical problems of implementation aside, the scenario would only work in a relative stalemate situation. There won’t be a stalemate. The uniparty will win and nominate whomever it wants (probably Teddy as the designated loser) or DT will win and then this discussion is moot.

My prediction: DT wins the nomination but will have a harder time in the general. Power never gives up power willingly, and they will gladly hand the election over to the rats to keep their power and perks in place.
