You may have already seen the following clip, but it’s 4th of July weekend and I thought I’d share it for those who haven’t. It’s the Friday before a holiday, so let’s have a little fun.
The question is this: What if Independence Day’s President Whitmore gave his rousing rally-the-troops speech today? How would the media react? The answer is hilarious, terrifyingly accurate, an astute indictment of the way the modern media machine works.

I’ve seen ID4 about a 100 times and it still impresses me. Just a great movie. And Bill Pullman’s speech has become a classic.

Well, my local favorite TV station - KUSI.com did something special tonight. They got a group of the on-air people together and they recited The Declaration of Independence - it was so awesome.
They had fireworks in the background; it was really special. I’m hoping it’s on their website so I can play it several more times.
In the first one when the President was communicating with the alien through the scientist, I’m thinking the alien is Muslim. What do you want from us? DIE!

I have seen the clip. I suspect it hits a little too close to home for Big Media to favorably comment on it.
In that case, Obama would characterize it as an unfortunate, rare occurrence of Solar System violence.
I remember seeing it while I was at Ft Knox, and EVERYONE cheered when the bugs blasted the white house.
