Gary Johnson's MSNBC appearance just brought the 'Libertarian moment' to a screeching halt

"What is a leppo?"

I’ve made no secret that I have a lot of sympathy for the strict constructionist leanings of many Libertarians. I would argue, much to the chagrin of social conservatives, that they’re right more often than they wrong. The problem is that they simply can’t get their act together as a party. Part of that is because a good chunk of them are really just closet Democrats trying to legalize weed, and part of it is because they don’t have the organization, money, and media clout to get over the metaphorical hump.

This year was thought by many to be “the Libertarian moment” - a time when two massively unpopular tcandidates would place the spotlight on third parties. Finally, they thought, we’ll have a strong, knowledgeable, and likeable candidate who will lead us to respectability.

Here is my comment on the other thread, a response to Texas Freeper

“Prior to yesterday. I would bet dollars to donuts that 95% of Americans couldn’t have told you what Aleppo is.”

Exactly.

This was the liberal plagiarist fraud Mike Barnacle asking the question.

Aleppo sounds like an Italian puppet maker and is jargon in this context.

I’ve learned over the years that frauds, con-men, charlatans and incompetents use jargon to make themselves look smarter and others less so.

It’s a scam tactic.

Hugh Hewitt did the same thing on Trump asking about the nuclear triad.

They did it to Sarah Palin with the Bush Doctrine.

I do not mind that anyone doesn’t know what ‘aleppo’ is.

That isn’t my disagreement with Gary Johnson.

He’s basically a liberal republican who the libertarians are using to sell out their soul to winning. That’s understandable, I suppose, but that still leaves him a liberal, establishment republican.

There is nothing LIBERTARIAN about Gary Johnson’s statist progressivism ....... He had yet to declare openly his GOLDMAN SACHS sponsorship....

I could have. I could have pointed right to it on a map, told you some of the history of the city dating back several thousand years, and then talked about the current strategic importance it has.

And I'm just a random guy who doesn't even have any degrees or anything in relevant fields like history, political science, or international relations. I just keep myself informed.

If the majority of Americans don't bother to do this, then it's their fault - not the people who are criticising someone for not knowing these things.

I had seen the name in the news, but if asked point blank what Aleppo is, wouldn’t have known either. And don’t care.
The majority of Americans have no need to, either.
