Pollster Frank Luntz said Donald Trump's performance last night "was so significant that he's back in this race."
"This is the first time of the three debates that there's been any genuine movement," Luntz told Megyn Kelly after the debate, referencing the way undecided voters were impacted by Donald Trump's performance.
"I have to acknowledge something here, I thought it was all over for Donald Trump, and when these people walked in here, I was pretty sure of it," he said.
"Based on their response... I have to change my mind. I actually think that tonight was so significant that he's back in this race."

Luntz also sent out a series of tweets showing Trump dominated the debate:

He wowed you, and he wowed me, but did he wow the general voter?
Hopefully this is a big yes.
Luntz is trying to gather the short-fat-bald vote.
Luntz has already been turned around on this today.
“Back in the race”?
Trump was never out of it, except in the revered wishful thinking of liberals.
Link?
I had hoped that his good performance at the second debate would stop the bleeding. I suppose you cannot reverse a trend overnight. There are still a few weeks remaining before Election Day. Maybe some of the turncoats will have second thoughts. They should remember, Paul Ryan is not really the ‘head of the party’ any more than Boo-Hoo Boehner was. Ryan is the Speaker of the House. That is his job, and apparently his only concern. Ryan has never liked Trump anyway. Recall how long it took for him to say he was endorsing.
Yes, apparently on Charlie Rose yesterday, he was walking those comments back.
I just heard it on Rush.
Someone will provide a transcript shortly, I’m sure.
How do you know there’s “bleeding”? Do you believe the rigged polls?
Fevered!
Darn auto-correct!
Did Megyn bust a blood vessel ?
Rasmussen is usually somewhat reliable. Even they show Hillary up about 11 since last week, and Donald down.
Some polls are clearly made up, such as those from CNN.
Our country is so huge, so widespread, it takes a while for one good debate to effect a significant number of the Undecided. Liken it to changing course on a big cruiser ship.
Takes a while, and by necessity, occurs in stages.
We`ll see. The next few days of polls should give us an indication. According to LS, he took a small hit in the EV, but is still easily within striking distance.
Trump`s advantage in early voting may have forced the enemy to play its hand earlier than they would have liked. This is a case where early voting may have helped us.
The enemy has more tapes of
Trump that they`re planning to release. My guess is that they`re no `worse` than the one we`ve already seen. Hopefully people will begin to see them as more of the same start ignoring them. Trump has done a good job of addressing the tape and pivoting to the important issues and abuses of the Clintons.
One thing we can do when discussing this with others is to fight back against the narrative that Trump was talking about assaulting women. In all the clamor, people have implicitly conceded that point. In truth, Trump said nothing of the kind. He was talking about how groupies have no problem with being fondled when they know you are wealthy. He was talking about golddiggers.
E. T. A. Hoffmann, in the preface to one of his books, joked that the misprints in his earlier books were improvements introduced by the printers on their own:
“Truly, authors often owe their boldest thoughts, their most outstanding phrasing, to the good printers who help by so-called misprints.”
Nailed it!

Thank you. I only wish that my typo was an improvement. Reading it, it makes no sense to me.
Good perspective on it. Thanks!
Awwww Meggie still bleeding from her whereever
