Sorry, That's Not Really Donald Trump's Inauguration Poem (One I posted earlier)

It's really something, though.

Though it's been touted – and slammed – as the official inaugural poem of Donald Trump, there's no sign the heavily gilded and long-winded ode to a Scottish hero who saves the United States from tyranny was commissioned by the incoming Trump administration or slated to be read at the inauguration on Friday.

"Pibroch of the Domhnall" describes the president-elect as a "braw gallant man" who "with purpose and strength ... came down from his tower / To snatch from a tyrant his ill-gotten power." It goes on to lavish praise on "the handsome Trump clan" and "the flower of Europe, Melania the fair."

Trump's mother, Mary Ann MacLeod, was a Scottish immigrant. "A Pibroch is a rallying bagpipe tune and is pronounced like 'PEA-brohgh,'" the author, Joseph Charles MacKenzie, notes. "Domhnall, the Scottish form of the name Donald, is pronounced like 'TONE-all.'"

He also says the last line of each stanza – a rallying cry for "the Domnhall, the best of MacLeod!" – is supposed to be recited by the "inaugural" crowd.

Critics on the website of The Society of Classical Poets, where the poem was published on Jan. 15, did not hold back....

I thought it was great, then went and looked some stuff up after reading it... because I planned to share it and was wondering if what the article said, before the poem was true... about a Democratic tradition since JFK in ‘61. Well from what I found, it is true that no Republican had a poem read for him on inauguration day, not all the Democrats since Kennedy had one either. There have been 5 poems written for inaugurations, starting with JFK. Lyndon Johnson and Jimmy Carter were skipped, Clinton and Obama had one for each of their 2 terms
