LJUBLJANA, Slovenia The tiny European nation of Slovenia is undergoing a tourism boom partly because it is the native country of U.S. first lady Melania Trump.
The national Statistics Bureau said Tuesday that the number of overnight stays in Slovenia by American tourists has jumped by 10 percent in 2016 when compared to 2015.
Nearly 4 million foreign tourists visited the country of 2 million in 2016, up by about 10 percent....

I took a Google “tour” of Slovenia a few weeks ago——it is gorgeous.
A friend of my daughter visited Yugoslavia about 25 years ago and said the area that is now Slovenia was on of the nicest places she ever visited.

There’s a lot of gems hidden away off the beaten path in central and eastern Europe that aren’t clogged with tourists, where the American dollar goes far and the locals are hospitable and friendly.
Also true in Asia and Oceania. Example: The Philippines.

so would I as I have always wanted to go to eastern Europe. I have been all over western Europe, but never the East.
My grandfather was Slovenian.
Slovenia has progressed further than any of the otheer Yugoslav republics since independence.
And now there’s a Slovenian in the White House? Cool!
The Capital Ljubiana (sp?) is beautiful and looks like a little Vienna!
