The U.S. Central Command announced on Thursday that the military used a GBU-43 Massive Ordinance Air Blast, otherwise known as the Mother Of All Bombs, for the first time in combat today, dropping one on an ISIS-K complex in Afghanistan.
The ISIS-K complex located in Achin, Nangarhar housed anywhere from 800 – 2000 fighters.
According to General John W. Nicholson, commander of U.S. forces in Afghanistan, “As ISIS-K’s losses have mounted, they are using IEDs, bunkers and tunnels to thicken their defense. This is the right munition to reduce these obstacles and maintain the momentum of our offensive against ISIS-K.”
The MOAB consists of 21,000 pounds of high explosive, nearly twice the size of its predecessor, the Daisy Cutter. It is so large, that it must be rolled out of a C-130.
The MOAB is not a penetrator weapon and is primarily intended for soft to medium surface targets covering extended areas and targets in a contained environment such as a deep canyon or within a cave system.
The basic operational concept bears some similarity to the BLU-82 Daisy Cutter, which was used to clear heavily wooded areas in the Vietnam War and in Iraq to clear mines and later as a psychological weapon against the Iraqi military. After the psychological impact of the BLU-82 on enemy soldiers was witnessed, and no BLU-82 weapons remained, the MOAB was developed partly to continue the ability to intimidate Iraqi soldiers. Pentagon officials had suggested their intention to use MOAB as an anti-personnel weapon, as part of the “shock and awe” strategy integral to the 2003 invasion of Iraq.[5]
A Daisy Cutter attack during Desert Storm would usually be preceded by a leaflet drop. The leaflets read something like this: “Men of the 26th Infantry Division. Tomorrow at 1400 hours local time, we will drop the world’s largest conventional bomb on your position. Flee to the south and surrender. You will be treated in accordance with the laws of the Geneva Convention. This is your last warning.”
For those who didn’t desert, their death can only be described as not peaceful.
Several hours after the bomb was delivered, more leaflets would be dropped to the survivors, if any remained. “Men of the 26th Infantry Division. We told you we would drop the world’s largest conventional bomb on your position. Your comrades are dead and wounded. You may be wounded as well. Flee to the south and surrender. You will be treated in accordance with the laws of land warfare.”
And, now the tide has turned. The maniacal murdering madmen of ISIS are being targeted for annihilation. If their deaths seem harsh to the liberal press, too bad; war is hell and ISIS is on the way there.
In the last week, President Trump has authorized a cruise missile strike on Syria and a MOAB bombardment of ISIS in Afghanistan.
The message is crystal clear to our enemies: Barack “The Most Beautiful Sound in the World is the Muslim Call to Prayer” Obama, is no longer in charge. Neither is Ash Carter, Ray Mabus, Susan Rice, Hillary Clinton, Valerie Jarrett, Ben Rhodes and the rest of the worthless, naïve and too gutless to skin that smokewagon national security team.
It’s possible that the MOAB strike was a live run to see how effective the weapon is at destroying bunker and tunnel systems. And, which country has a vast labyrinth of tunnels and bunkers; none other than Kim Jong-un’s worker’s paradise.
As for ISIS, the best is yet to come. Those who live by the sword, shall die by it. You’ll be doing the dying.
As for Iran – you’ve had an ass kicking coming for 38 years. Stay tuned.
As for Kim Jong-un – it might be time to switch playbooks at halftime and leave the stadium before the stadium is blown apart underneath your little bound feet.
