You can fight. But the courts are stacked against you.

Even under Trump, the system will KILL YOU if you get too uppity. The rot is too entrenched.

Dunno, ask Al Sharpton. Seems he’s been owing a lot of money in back taxes he’s not paid; but since 0bama doesn’t have his back anymore maybe hopefully he’ll be eager to pay up.

The IRS does not care about a court decision for an individual case. You would have to litigate all over again.

Better to just pay and shut up. You can’t beat taxes unless you’re a prominent democrat and have protective pigmentation.

No statute of limitations for tax fraud. They can go back to the beginning of the income tax for civil tax fraud.

And the 3 years is from when you file the return. Don’t file, and the clock hasn’t started ticking yet.

There’s a 10 year statute of limitations on starting collection efforts after the return has been filed.

the law itself and the jurisprdence around it is just like a John Roberts ruling. U can’t get around a corrupt court. Read glenshaw glass for a recent abomination. the court makes up law and stealing your money is it’s highest duty.

The 16th amendment was never legally ratified by the required number of states, but the feral government is not required to obey the rule of law.

DC personal _income_tax_ is the highest lie our fathers handed down to USA; along with its bastard child the _federal_reserve_. These acts enabled and created the state so deep, that USA may never recover from its decent into tyranny.

These un-Constitutional acts, took most power away from the states and the people and liberty from USA citizens.

I believe that trying to fight the IRS is a losing proposition! That is why, since 1991, I have been an advocate of the National Retail Sales Tax.

Its present form, the FairTax Act of 2017 (H.R.25 & S.18), proposes to REPLACE the Income Tax with the FAIRtax and ABOLISH THE IRS!

What is not to like about that?

To find out more about the FAIRtax, you could read both pieces of legislation at https://www.congress.gov/bill/115th-congress/house-bill/25/all-info and
https://www.congress.gov/bill/115th-congress/senate-bill/18.

Or, you could go to https://www.fairtax.org.

The USA will NEVER be a FRee country so long as we have an income tax and an IRS!

To find out how to help us REPLACE the Income Tax with the FAIRtax and ABOLISH THE IRS, go to https://www.fairtax.org.

You bet the lowly taxpayer can win. I did! Back in 70’s, I did battle with the IRS and collected damages. But, be warned, that once you give them a pounding, they won’t forget about you. For many years after that, I was called in for questions and audits many times. I used to joke that they use me to break in all their new auditors.
This was back in the days before tax software, but there was Lotus spreadsheet. I used to sign in at the local IRS office, drop a box of paperwork on their desk and walk out, telling them to let me know if they found a problem. Some years they would ask me to send them a copy of the silliest things like MY part of a W-4. The last time I heard from them was about ten years ago when they questioned a deduction on my Schedule F over farm fuel. They ended up sending me a check for 9 bucks and change. After that, I haven’t heard from them since.

I always tell people that if they get a letter or call from the IRS, don’t automatically assume that they made a mistake. The IRS screws up their math regularly, and I can prove it!

I pay all the federal income taxes I owe and that is a very, very low number.

Got a letter from the IRS in 2003 asking me to sign a contract agreeing to an imputed amount of income. I filed it in a folder. Got another one about six months later, so I called the IRS agent handling my file. Asked him the following questions:

1. Why did the IRS send me a contract to sign and did he understand that the Constitution barred forced contracts?

2. Could he send me the statute, not the IRS code, that required me under my situation to pay income taxes?

3. I also told him I knew IRS revenue agents have a quota to meet and that even if I did owe taxes, which I didn’t, I wouldn’t be worth the effort

That was the last I’ve heard from the IRS. The key is to let them understand you know that they cannot produce the statute and keep your mouth shut; and they will leave you alone.

That said, this applies to most people’s income from wages, salaries, and commissions. Profits from businesses and investment income is a separate matter and taxes are owed on them.

Lots of people and companies fight the IRS and win. That is not exactly breaking news. Every case is different. Just know the facts and the law
