What Kim Jong Un really wants

Kim Jung Un is said to have crossed the line into becoming a full nuclear power and there is concern about his being to strike America:

North Korea has successfully produced a miniaturized nuclear warhead that can fit inside its missiles, crossing a key threshold on the path to becoming a full-fledged nuclear power, U.S. intelligence officials have concluded in a confidential assessment.

The new analysis completed last month by the Defense Intelligence Agency comes on the heels of another intelligence assessment that sharply raises the official estimate for the total number of bombs in the communist country’s atomic arsenal. The U.S. calculated last month that up to 60 nuclear weapons are now controlled by North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. Some independent experts believe the number of bombs is much smaller.

The findings are likely to deepen concerns about an evolving North Korean military threat that appears to be advancing far more rapidly than many experts had predicted. U.S. officials last month concluded that Pyongyang is also outpacing expectations in its effort to build an intercontinental ballistic missile capable of striking cities on the American mainland.

Kim has been making repeated threats to destroy the US.
KCNA reported that a spokesman from the North Korean Foreign Ministry said, "The DPRK legally stipulates that if the supreme dignity of the DPRK is threatened, it must preemptively annihilate those countries and entities that are directly or indirectly involved in it, by mobilizing all kinds of strike means including the nuclear ones."
Donald Trump has responded, saying the US would bring  "fire and fury" down upon North Korea:
“North Korea best not make any more threats to the United States,” Trump declared before the White House press pool. “They will be met with the fire and fury like the world has never seen. He has been very threatening beyond a normal state, and as I said, they will be met with the fire and fury and, frankly, power the likes of which this world has never seen before.”
After having grown accustomed to a weakling in the White House, the left has soiled its collective pants over Trump's statements.
But Democrats slammed Trump for a reaction they charged was "bombastic" and "unhinged." "President Trump is not helping the situation with his bombastic comments," California Sen. Dianne Feinstein said in a statement. New York Rep. Eliot Engel, the top Democrat on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, said Trump had undermined US credibility "by drawing an absurd red line." "Make no mistake: North Korea is a real threat, but the President's unhinged reaction suggests he might consider using American nuclear weapons in response to a nasty comment from a North Korean despot," Engel said.
No, not unhinged. These people do not respect weakness.

Rex Tillerson tried to put things in perspective.

Secretary of State Rex Tillerson urged calm and said Americans should have “no concerns” after North Korea and President Donald Trump traded fiery threats, insisting Wednesday he doesn’t believe there is “any imminent threat.”

“Americans should sleep well at night,” Tillerson said.

In more tranquil terms, Tillerson sought to explain the thinking behind Trump’s warning to Pyongyang that it would be “met with fire and fury like the world has never seen” if it made more threats to the United States. Tillerson said Trump was trying to send a strong and clear message to North Korea’s leader so that there wouldn’t be “any miscalculation.”

What the AP failed totally to report was this:

In sum:
“Kim wants the kind of deal obama gave to Iran- all carrots and no stick; billions in cash delivered in the middle of the night, with front-loaded bargains and lifting of sanctions.”

A very reasonable assumption.

I would add that that is what China wants for NK from this also.

“What he wants is this: $$$$$$$$$$$$”

Continuing in the article a little farther, it says:

Kim wants something. He wants a deal.

Kim wants the kind of deal obama gave to Iran- all carrots and no stick; billions in cash delivered in the middle of the night, with front-loaded bargains and lifting of sanctions.

Countries have been doing this to each other for centuries.

Extortion.

“We will stop attacking and seizing your ships if you pay us tribute.” They say.

“To the shores of Tripoli.” Until we have a president willing to go toe-to-toe, we will continue to be suckers.

“Several years later Tripoli decided that it was strong enough to demand new concessions and more money. Jefferson, now commander-in-chief, chose war over continuing the policy of tribute, and waged a successful war against the Basher of Tripoli.”

This guy does not care about or value human life, and people like that (correct me if I’m wrong) tend to not even value their own, ultimately. They want to go out in a “blaze of glory” if they do not get what they want. What he wants is our destruction and “glory.” If he is unable to achieve these things, and it appears they are linked, I believe he may opt for going out in a blaze (of glory) rather than failing and ending up being brought down to reality by having to answer for his and his family’s crimes against humanity. What he “wants” is not possible because he is insatiable. What he doesn’t want might be a way to motivate him (???)

I wonder if there isn’t racism in the mix with this guy too.

Kim still dreams of driving out the US from S. Korea and then invading and conquering the South and reuniting the two Koreas under a Kim Dynasty

NK believes that SK is very interested in having the Winter Olympics go well. And that they will pay NK to behave for 6 moths in return for concessions that could include money and resources.

SK would not be in favor of any strategy from the US that would hurt the changes of the Olympics going well. So Trump can say whatever he wants. SK will undercut him for the next 6 months.

Trump should ignore NK for 6 months. If the rhetoric and missile testing continues for that time it will give him a bigger argument afterwards. And he will not have the support of SK until then.

The worse thing that NK could do in 6 months is start a war. With everybody’s Olympic Teams in Seoul, including teams from Russia, China and the US. The US could then respond with everyone’s support. But if the US engages in talks, the north has shown a history of lying and using the talks to delay and extract money from the US.

Let NK over play their hand. Let them make the first move. Let them send a rocket to Guam or Japan. We can take a hit. Then we can respond with fire and fury. With most of the world understanding and supporting our efforts.

Obviously we should have a thousand cruise missiles trained on every target in NK. And we should be ready to go when ever need be. But NK is only likely to over play their hand if we ignore them. So we should.

The NORKs are trying to force an operational demonstration of our missile defense system.

If it fails to intercept, the NORKs and any other third world despot will run wild with threats.

What he wants, what the communist Nork regime has
always wanted is the conquest of South Korea
and the looting of its wealth.
