Not long after protests surrounding plans to remove a Confederate statue in Virginia turned deadly Saturday, hundreds gathered in San Antonio over calls there to move a 118-year old Confederate monument.
More than 300 protesters gathered in Travis Park, the San Antonio Express-News reported. The initial rally was organized by the group This is Texas Freedom Force, requesting that the statue in the park stay in place.
The group's Facebook event description announced there would be several speakers adding that "we will not stand quietly by while our Texas history is erased."
Two San Antonio councilmen, Robert Treviño and Cruz Shaw, proposed that the statue be moved earlier this month.
The group SATX4 organized a counter-protest one hour before the rally to call for statue's removal.
"SATX4 will not stay silent in the face of white supremacy," the Facebook event description read. "History of white power belongs in a museum, not in the heart of our city."(continued)

ISIS and Democrats forcing the removal of statues that document history. Both are Fundamentalists who want a “Sharia type” of law of the land.
Good grief....they are going to get away with this aren’t they? Next up that racist white nationalist American Flag. Mt Rushmore too.
How will the BLM, Anifa brownshirts get a income without the evil white man? Oh yeah I forgot, the globalist puppet masters want millions in poverty so they can control the masses.
They’ll want to take down the Iwo Jima Marine Memorial. Innocent Japanese people of color were killed in that war...
Next they’ll demand that the Alamo be demolished.
Mark.
My.
Words.
These people will not stop until someone calls them out on their lunacy & refuses their demands.
See another pattern here? Our side has a rally, always peaceful, and the left has to have a counter rally right away , and ten there is trouble, why not have their own rally on another day?
How does a statue document history?
How does a statue document history?
Next, we will be renaming cities. All this should sound very scary a lot like the former Soviet union.
You have missed the most important step: During the peaceful rally, the counter rally protestors begin attacking the peaceful protestors. The police refuse to intervene and protect the original peaceful protestors; and, then, the left wing supporting media blame all of the violence on the original peaceful marchers.
Do not ever forget the part that is always played by the biased media.
That question doesn’t even deserve a response. Next you’ll ask how textbooks document history.
Move these to museums and be done with it.
great point.
Yesterday i made a mistake and turned FOX on, and they had a male reporter reporting at the scene.
He kept using the term alt right, etc, but the camera showed us the left were attacking the legal protesters with sticks, paint, and stones, and were harassing them.
Yet this reporter blamed the violence on the legal protesters, simply stunning how disgusting the media has become.
Let’s move you to a museum.
The statues stay.
Frankly, you don't belong on this site; go away...go far, far, far away!
Yep! All monuments in DC. Just like Isis would do.
Books, records and publications document history.
A statute memorializes a person or event.
A couple miles from me, there was a statue of Robert E. Lee.
The statue is gone, but his life is still documented.
I really like black folks. Hate n*****s though. There is a difference.
Count me as one northerner who wants the good folks of the south to remember their forefathers fight.
