Are Wisconsin Democrats xenophobic?
Since the deal with Foxconn was announced by Governor Scott Walker, Democrats have been running around complaining about a Chinese company getting a subsidy from the state of Wisconsin. (Actually, the company is Taiwanese.) Theyre complaining about China more than President Donald Trump did during the 2016 campaign.
Our friends at Media Trackers, who brilliantly raised the question about the Democrats xenophobia, have documented a number of occasions when the Democrats and their allies have complained about the foreign-nature of Foxconn, including seven times in one press release. Weve already commented on the odd opposition to Asians by Democratic gubernatorial candidate Tony Evers, the state Superintendent of Public Instruction. If the Democrats have a problem with foreigners, specifically Asians, perhaps they should just say so. Asian American voters would probably like to know if the Democrats are still the party of Franklin Delano Roosevelt and his internment camps.
Because judging from the anti-foreigner rhetoric, Wisconsin Democrats would be thrilled to give $3 billion in incentives away to a corporation as long as its incorporated within the United States. Its just the color of the skin of the executives at Foxconn that has the Democrats upset.
Governor Scott Walker and Foxconn Chairman Terry Gou signed the memo of understanding to bring a $10 billion manufacturing facility to Wisconsin. If Gou was a white guy from a company based in California or Detroit, would Democrats still complain about the subsidy? History suggests not.
Oh wait, Democrats dont like workers in Illinois, either. Theyre suddenly concerned that large manufacturing facilities too close to the Illinois border might attract the wrong element. Were not sure what that wrong element from Illinois might be, Cubs fans?
Have the Democrats been to Janesville lately, or Lake Geneva? There are Cubs fans wearing team jerseys everywhere. If we were going to build a wall on the state line, apparently something the Democrats now favor, its too late. Chicago-style hot dogs are now regular fare in most Wisconsin cities.
Perhaps would be happy if we created a 100-mile economic exclusion zone along the border with Illinois preventing any economic activity in the region so people from Illinois couldnt get jobs in Wisconsin. Presumably 100 miles should be enough to deter all but the most die-hard commuters. While were at it, we can tear up the Amtrak tracks coming north from Chicago, too.
Of course, Democrats werent worried about those annoying people from Illinois invading our state when General Motors in Janesville was temporarily bailed out under President George Bush and President Barack Obama (the plant closed anyway). Nor did Democrats object to Illinois workers possibly benefiting when former Governor Jim Doyle, also a Democrat, offered General Motors $200 million in incentives to build a new factory in Janesville in 2009 (it didnt work).
And when Amazon built in Kenosha, keeping out fans of the Chicago Bears wasnt an issue then, either. But then, General Motors and Amazon are American companies. If Toyota or Hyundai wants to build another auto plant in Janesville or Kenosha, then the Democrats are ready to keep the foreigners out.
Gov Scott Walker has the democrats in Wisconsin now wearing diapers and sucking tbeir thumbs, total fail.
Democrats are not xenophobic, they don’t have enough principles to even be xenophobic. Democrats know one thing - agendas - never principles. If Foxconn was a Mexican company the Democrats would be saying NOTHING - zip, zilch, nada.
He kinda does. *SMIRK*
Our homegrown and imported Democrats are more, ‘Walkerphobic’ than anything else.
He is doing SUCH a bang-up job for our State...with even more to come! :)
The Democrats are afraid it’ll be a non-union plant. They’d rather see their own voters starve than work non-union. If there’s no union, who’s going to kick back to the party? If it’s non-union and the people who work there end up better off, just think of the dangerous example that would set.
BTTT
The Dems threw out their minority leader (Barca) over supporting the Foxconn deal which he supported because the people of his district supported and will benefit greatly from the deal if it blossoms to the heights its supposed to.
They replaced him as minority leader with the Rep from the Oshkosh area who not only was busted in a prostitution sting a few years ago but is also known as the rep that threatened to kill a female GOP rep during the Act 10 debate.
Walker is grinding the Dem party into the dust here in Wisconsin and apparently the Democrats are more than happy to help him themselves.
I worked at a Foxconn plant as an HR Rep. for a staffing company. Best paying salaried job I ever had.
Exactly.
They long for the days when Governor ‘Diamond’ Jim Doyle (D, WI) was in charge, throwing tax dollars down a rat hole for High Speed Rail - BUILT IN WISCONSIN BY A CHINESE COMPANY!!
Aarrgghhh!
And we still haven’t recovered from the BILLIONS he diverted from our state Transportation Fund to...who knows WHERE that money went! Our roads and bridges are crumbling. It’s pretty bad. Governor Walker DOES get dinged on that, but funding all that we need is a HUGE problem...and he doesn’t want to raise our taxes.
