There was word from Washington late Wednesday that Attorney General Jeff Sessions has ordered an expert on discovery evidence to review the Bunkerville Standoff case and advise the next step or steps.

A spokesman for the Justice Department says "the Justice Department takes this issue very seriously".

When he visited Las Vegas in July, Attorney General Jeff Sessions heaped praise on Acting US Attorney Steve Myhre for his handling of Bunkerville, hailing his "leadership" in the matter..........

Is Washington going to drop this matter or just paper over the prosecutor's (Steven Myhre) corruption and the corruption of the FBI and BLM that assisted him in the framing of the case and keeping evidence from the defense.

The DoJ just needs to drop this. Sessions needs to wake up and pull his head out of his butt.

Let these people live in peace. They were until the government started harassing them.

Looks like Jeff would rather go after hard working Americans Obama and his crew screwed with instead going after crooked insiders in DC.

This may be Sessions opening gambit to drop the prosecution.

Give it time, give it time. My guess is that Sessions knew about this. Just setting them up. The guy from corporate will come back with a finding that the case was terminally compromised by the incompetence of the government. Sessions will decline to prosecute on a retrial. Case closed and he doesn’t look partisan.

Why would a discovery expert be needed to drop the case? Sounds to me like this expert will advise the prosecution on how to continue without risking another mistrial.

Sounds like they are sending in the ‘discovery expert’ to try to bamboozle the judge into agreeing to give them a 4th bite at the apple with a promise to ‘do it right’ this time.

This isn’t for fact finding - if they wanted that, they’d send in the IG - this is for trying to put chrome on plastic. Perhaps a massive evidence dump on the defense a week before trial.

Sessions, WTF? You want to provide bureaucratic cover for your little statist oppressors by having an “expert” come back and say the case should be dismissed simply because of a technicality. The meme would be that a perfectly righteous but complex case by honest non agenda-driven federal prosecutors had to be “pulled” because of INADVERTENT prosecutorial mistakes. No light-of-day examination of the merits (actually non-merits) of this OPPRESSIVE PERSECUTION? Awards and high performance ratings to be showered upon the responsible federal employees?

SESSIONS, you are a PATHETIC COWARD!

What about the two that were convicted in the first or second trial?
Will this impact their convictions?

The government and DOJ under Obama ran treasonous! Discovery is what keeps innocent people from going to jail. Discovery in this case hidden by the prosecutors shows that the BLM had no justifiable reason to end the Bundies grazing lease. The BLM had close to 500 documents stating there was no harm done to the dessert tortoise by cattle on the Bundy ranch and grazing land. There was no justifiable reason to cancel the grazing lease and long held rights of the Bundies for more than a century. The FBI and BLM had cameras monitoring the Bundies and snipers pre-positioned before the standoff as claimed by the Bundies and hidden by the prosecution. There were FBI and BLM documents assessing the Bundies as nonviolent proving the Bundies defense as no need for all the guns and military tactics employed by the BLM to try and provoke the Bundies. The governments case is in not only unjust and a farce, but discovery has shown the light of truth. None of this should have ever occurred and to claim over and over that the Bundies were illegally grazing their cattle is a farce. The actual fees they owed for their trespassing cattle for a lease that should never have been canceled as it was all a falsehood was less than $20,000 and not millions and the Obama government twisted environmental rules to help Senator Reid in a land grab for Chinese and solar developers. The case should be dropped as the government has no case and all previous jury trails have acquitted.

The expert will provide a definitive justification for dropping the prosecutions and revisiting the plea deals. He will also provide a defensible basis for ousting the current US Attorney and disciplining the line prosecutors. If this seems unnecessarily elaborate and bureaucratic, keep in mind that Sessions and Rosenstein know that they will have to testify before Congress about their decisions and that Democrats will be looking to trip them up on the details. By relying on an expert, they can refer to him and avoid that risk.
