Have you been in a situation in which your friend wanted to apply for a job in your company and you became jealous and felt bad? How did you handle it? Jealousy is a deadly sin. It will make us sick and eventually kill us if we don't fight this deadly passion. Many times it strikes us kindof unnoticed and we don't pay attention to it. Yet, we need to learn to rejoice with our friends and share the joy of their success.

Why in the world should one be jealous of someone else’s success? If they are successful or not, it does not affect your life in any way, except to the extent that you allow it to happen.

IOW, you don’t GET jealous, you make OTHER people get jealous.
Kind of like Mattis. He doesn’t stay awake at night, he makes other people stay awake at night.

Don't worry... She gets paid 77 cents to your dollar. At least, you can tell her that. < /s>

I’ll play along. Recently a long time “friend” and I were up for promotion. He was selected while I was passed over. I wasn’t terribly bothered that I failed to select but I was bothered by his selection. It was one of those irrational cloudy thoughts I had to work on exorcising from my thinking. Outwardly I try to be happy for him, but deep down there’s resentment and maybe jealousy. It’s a petty sin I don’t bother trying to justify.

"Its not jealousy, its envy. Idiot."
Yep to your first statement--though I'm too polite to say the second.
It is what people say though: jealousy when they mean envy.
It's like when left-wing fascists are called liberals. They're not liberals. Liberals believe in liberty: left-wing fascists do not.

He needs counseling - he’s not so much jealous as he is angry, because HE was given a temporary position with a chance to become permanent while SHE is being given a shot at becoming permanent right away - it’s a clear case of sexual discrimination and he has every right to feel angry about it - his only problem is that he should recognize and accept those feelings and appropriately on them......
To: Armen Hareyan
No. But I have brought friends into companies that I worked at that had skills we needed. It was good for the company and good for them

Humility is one of my most favoritest awesome traits. I must admit, though. I am jealous of YOUR capacity to feel jealous. I'm like Data on Star Trek and want to know what it feels like to be human in that way.

I would focus on the vast alternatives and do stuff about it. You would be so busy with natural self improvement, little room for jealousy exists.
My 2 cents. Cha ching!
