Here We Go Again: Democrats Push Bill to Ban “Assault Rifles”

Following the Florida high school shooting, House Democrats are working hard at trampling over the 2nd Amendment in the Constitution. As usual, the left’s response to a crisis is to ban guns/trample everyone’s rights via legislation instead of addressing more complicated issues, like their 4-5 decades long ‘liberal’ policies and the social/moral decay that followed. Getting back to our news story,  Rep. David Cicilline, (D-R.I.) announced on Monday that House Democrats are going  all in on what has been described as the Assault Weapons Ban of 2018. More than 150 DEMs in the House already signed on the respective bill according to Rep. Ted Deutch (Florida Democrat).

The Assault Weapons Ban of 2018 bill supported by the vast majority of the Democrats lists more than 205 types of handguns and rifles that would be banned, provided the bill passes through Congress and gets signed by President Trump. Obviously, the now (in) famous AR-15 rifle and the iconic AK 47 are on the list. The bill would make it, let me quote:

The Democrats sent in armored vehicles at Waco and burned children to death.

No gun control.

Never.

Somebody should introduce legislation so citizens could voluntarily be put on the Weapons Prohibited List, with an added twist of prohibiting anyone in their employ or employed on their behalf from possessing weapons within 1000 yards of them, just like Felons, Pass it, Trump Sign it , then DEMAND THEY PUT THEIR MONEY WHERE THEIR MOUTH IS!

This piece of legislative effluent is, pure and simple, gun control one step short of confiscation, and it covers a lot more than AR-15’s.
Read it. It sucks wind, bigly.

Call your congress critters; all of them; repeatedly. Let them know this CANNOT BE PASSED. It MUST NOT BE PASSED.

The article title says, “Here We Go Again: Democrats Push Bill to Ban ‘Assault Rifles’.” The article text says, “unlawful for a person to import, sell, manufacture, transfer, or possess, in or affecting interstate or foreign commerce, a semiautomatic assault weapon.”

So which is it, Assault Rifles or assault weapon? World of difference.

I believe, in legal jargon, that’s called INFRINGED.

Or, what mental gymnastics will the lawyers/judges use to morph some other word into ‘NOT an infringement...but you still can’t get/have it’?

Another ‘compelling State interest’ (though they can never specify where THAT exists in the Const., or just how that supersedes an inalienable Right)?

The WHOLE of ‘in or affecting interstate...commerce’ has been so perverted as to be meaningless. The same ‘regulate’ of commerce vs. 2nd A. (Hint D.C. - it doesn’t mean what you espouse it does).

Let alone the BAN (’to prohibit, denied, forbidden’ aka *infringement*) directly violating the 2nd.

I’ll concede they have the authority to stop importation from abroad, but that’s ‘bout it.

Apparently the Dems don’t remember what happened after the 1994 “assault weapons” ban got passed. They lost the house of representatives.

The bill will promptly go to committee where all leftwing gun legislation goes to die. :-)

Does it ban new sales like AWB ‘94, or does it ban current ownership? A ban is useless unless it confiscates.

If the latter, then civil war is on the way. The image of the police is unfavorable now, and if that is combined with SWAT teams kicking in doors as in Katrina, then shots will be fired and flesh will be cut.

Am still trying to find out what countries are arming their military with Colt AR-15 "assault rifles."
