Is It Time for California to Secede From the Union?

No, seriously, this is an important question. It’s like in a failing marriage: if things are beyond repair, after you’ve tried everything and nothing seem to work anymore, every day is exactly the same (nagging and fighting over any minute detail)and all that, it’s better for both spouses to go their separate ways, don’t you think? The marriage example in California’s case is pretty accurate, as the former Golden State is now boasting its open defiance against the law of of the land, in this case federal immigration laws. California’s defiant behavior finally determined that sleepy elf also known as AG Sessions to do something about it, i.e. the DOJ filed a lawsuit, which blocks California’s sanctuary state laws. The purpose of the lawsuit is to establish once and for all that sanctuary jurisdictions are unconstitutional.

A better question: Is it time for the Union to expel California?

Agreed. California is part of the US and we should be doing our part to help fix it, not toss it away or waste time contemplating breaking it up.

Talking about breaking things up, has anyone seen anything anywhere about breaking up the 9th circuit?

It’s time to jail California’s lawless politicians.

+1

And many of their constituents.

Not all of California; just that uber-lib coastal swath from the northern tip of SF County down to the southern end of LA County. 70% of that state despises the lunacy emanating out of Insanestan.

No, it is time for the “leaders” there to be arrested.

Sorry, the whole state goes.

This is a case of being careful what you ask for. Part of me certainly wants to see California go. However, if we allow that then realize that it probably wouldn't be just California, it would also be Oregon, Washington, and Hawaii. Even if it's just California the Democrats would block it because they'd never win the presidency again. And then there's the problem that the USA would be cut off from the Pacific Ocean...

Secession worked so well for the Confederacy. There are SO many ways to economically starve California, which has some sort of conceit that the US “cannot possibly” get along without California, that any attempt would soon be quashed without the necessity of sending in a single armed unit to bring them crashing down.

Cut off the interstate flow of electricity from the rest of the United States. Embargo all their ports and deny service from other airports within the United States. Block all financial transactions from anywhere in the remaining 49 states and US Territories. Hell, cut off their flow of water from the Colorado River. Halt and turn around traffic on the Interstates entering and leaving California. Abut six months of this, and California will capitulate to just about anything offered.

Worked on North Korea, didn’t it?

Can you imagine the tax rate California would have to have to fund it’s liberal social welfare utopia? It would be crushing to business and anyone who actually had a job.

Secession worked so well for the Confederacy.

Well, that was because we had the Civil War because the Feds didn’t approve of it. I say we (the other 49 states) let them go. Goodbye. Don’t let Arizona hit you in the ass on the way out.

We lose a bunch of druggies, freaks, illegal aliens and Hollywood. Is there a bad side? Really?

I agree. why should we give up the state over a handful of loons? hold them all accountable to the law of the land. drag their @$$e$ out of their offices, homes, wherever and put them where they belong. oh by the way, since they show so many signs of mental instability, make sure you take any and all guns from them first, then remove them from office, place them in jail. period. time to take the state and our country back

Sorry, the whole state goes.

Like the "whole" of Virginia left the confederacy back in 1863? Don't assume it's all or nothing with CA either. I know that state, having been born and raised there. The people of the North State and eastern counties despise that hyper-liberal mess along the coast, but are grossly outnumbered at election time.

To Preserve the Union, the fedgov may have to do to Cali what it did to Georgia.

Interesting way to “preserve” something in the 1860’s with double canister at 50 yards.

California a the 9th largest economy in the world and would be first world country if they went independent.
