Is It Time for California to Secede From the Union?
IWB ^ | Chris Black

No, seriously, this is an important question. It’s like in a failing marriage: if things are beyond repair, after you’ve tried everything and nothing seem to work anymore, every day is exactly the same (nagging and fighting over any minute detail)and all that, it’s better for both spouses to go their separate ways, don’t you think? The marriage example in California’s case is pretty accurate, as the former Golden State is now boasting its open defiance against the law of of the land, in this case federal immigration laws. California’s defiant behavior finally determined that sleepy elf also known as AG Sessions to do something about it, i.e. the DOJ filed a lawsuit, which blocks California’s sanctuary state laws. The purpose of the lawsuit is to establish once and for all that sanctuary jurisdictions are unconstitutional.

Time makes no difference here. The UK analogy is fine. Perfect.

Israel GDP is $332.541 billion. US aid is $3 billion. So that 1% keeps Isreal afloat? Come on man you can do better.

They can't. It's illegal. See TX vs White

Three options:

1) Status quo. CA goes bankrupt, hits bottom and is NOT bailed out. Most likely scenario. Less likely: Obama-like bail out of State.
2) CA is expelled from the US and is restored as a territory. (very unlikely since it would almost take a Constitutional Amendment 2/3 Congress, 3/4 states) to do it)).
3) CA is broken up into three states as per CA constitution and those processes. (They have begun this process, but it won't pass US "permission" from the "people".

Yes. And build the wall around it on its’ eastern boarder.

Sorry. Lincoln annexed WV in 1863 when Virginia seceded as a buffer. This was a constitutional move since Virginia was no longer part of the union. WV was one of 2 states Lincoln annexed territory from a seceded state.

There's a bit more than "Lincoln annexed it." In 1862, WVA applied to the U.S. Congress for admission to the Union. Lincoln approved the act admitting West Virginia, but only with the proviso of the abolition of slavery.

My greater point was, the secession of the whole of CA neither necessary nor wanted by the people who populate a large majority of the state's landmass. It's not an all-or-nothing proposition.

Israel would never have been formed were it not for the support of the U.S., and the U.S. has given over more than $130 billion in aid to them. While I support such aid, let’s not pretend it isn’t a vital component to their national security.

“Dismantling this Republic by getting California to secede is one of George Soros’ most cherished goals. I am troubled by how many people on this board would be willing to help him with that.”

Agreed. “They” have been trying to dismantle the USA since sometime before 1860. I don’t know who all of “they” is, but the Democrats have been part of them.

As long as the U.S. keeps all the military bases and National Parks I would be fine with California leaving the Union.

“...we had the Civil War because the Feds didn’t approve of it.”

I take it by “Feds” you mean Federalists, the Northern States and the volunteers they sent, not the Federal Government because the Federal Government couldn’t have succeeded without the Northern States and those volunteers.

No on seems to realize that California’s socialism exists merely because of our Federal Reserve and its printed, fiat, manipulated money - 1) blowing bubbles in housing and technology stocks, and 2) supporting massive amounts of government debt.

Let Kaliforniastan become it’s own country - then they will find out that the Nation that allowed them to become a major economy does not cater to its enemies. Would cause a lot of turmoil for a while but we would end up prospering more than them. Put a 100% tariff on Kaliforniastan goods while we’re at it....They’ll have to manufacture all their own vehicle to meet their “standards” and the rest of us won’t be burdened by all the crap they have been pushing on us....

San Francisco, LA, and towns along the Coast can succeed as that’s where the Liberal vermin live under their rocks. The rest of the cockroaches are in the CA governorship and Assembly.

There are counties in CA that are RED. Don’t trash everyone because of the RAT vermin in control via voter fraud and their illegal hordes.

Same goes for Oregon, Colorado, Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin, and the rest of the infested states. Not everyone is an insane Liberal in many cities and states all over the country. Even Texas has RAT bastards in Austin, Houston, and Dallas. Everyone better be very vigilant as the RAT infestation could be heading your way as well.

Getting rid of the 6th largest economy in the world is probably not a good idea.
