The Italian President Sergio Mattarella has done an about face and given Giuseppe Conte the mandate to form a new government of the outsider parties.

Conte has presented a list of ministers for the new government.

Mattarella had balked at the idea of Euroskeptic Paolo Savona as finance minister, but Savona will be minister of EU affairs.

The Five Star leader Luigi Di Maio will be industry-labor minister and League leader Matteo Salvini will be interior minister dealing with illegal immigration. The new government has set a goal of 500-thousand deportations.

A swearing in ceremony is set for 4pm tomorrow in Italy, 10am Eastern time.

New talks began with the last day or two to bring the two outsider parties together with the Italian president to find agreement on a new government.

The Vatican seems to favor muslim immigration, perhaps Italy can deport a substantial number to there?

Think of all the money they’d save on transportation costs!

Get all the school children to build Roman catapults, and thoss half a million Muslim invaders over the Vatican wall. After all, Pope Francis says that he loves them.

“That’s a good start, they through out the EU and we have progress”

The EU technocrats do not give up.

They are allowing thing in public - but have a plan to disrupt the voters and the elected MPs. We dont know what it will be until they decide to deploy.

The EU elites will go down with the ship.

I’m reading material where Salvini has upped the ante to 600-thousand. We’ll see if he can go that high.

Answered my own question. The PM will be the guy that the 5-Star party proposed originally, who was ready to become PM, and renounced that position after the socialist President rejected the proposed finance minister, Paolo Savona.

That is, Giuseppe Conti.

Savona was rejected because he was a Euroskeptic. Now, he’s going to be the EU minister. So apparently, this is the President backing down before his refusal creates a constitutional crisis, ends up getting himself abolished, and hands the 5-Star and Italian League parties an even larger super-majority.

With sincere respect dangus.

There is another motive here. The technocrats do not give up.

They have a plan - and it screws the regular population. There is either a grand plan -— or they have bribed someone

Under Italy’s system, I was wondering, how would they get rid of the President? How do those get selected? It is supposed to be a ceremonial job without governing power, but this guy sure muddied things up.

They’d be walled in for all of them to enjoy, so it would be a win win situation for all.

Matarella and co. had a chance to contemplate the probably larger majorities the of the League and allies if a new election was forced.

The President of the Republic (an office established in 1948) is elected by Parliament, in a secret ballot in which up to three delegates from each regional council also participate. Any Italian citizen in good standing, over 50 years old, can be elected.

The term is seven years. The only ways to remove a president are by voluntary resignation, death, serious illness, or for commission of crimes such as high treason or subversion of the constitution.

In my memory, only one president (Giovanni Leone in 1978) was forced to resign after charges of corruption.

And he said they used to cheer Verdi,
In Rome, after the opera,
And the guards couldn’t stop them,

And that was an anagram for Vittorio
Emanuele Re D’ Italia,
And the guards couldn’t stop them.

The backlash would have hurt the pro-EU crowd worst of all,
