EIELSON AIR FORCE BASE, Alaska (CNN) - Defense Secretary James Mattis said the Pentagon is in "close alignment" with the Department of Homeland Security with efforts to utilize military bases to house undocumented immigrants along the southern US border.
The Department of Homeland Security has "come to us asking us to build temporary camps on two of our bases," Mattis told reporters on board his plane at the beginning of a trip that will take him to Alaska, China, South Korea and Japan.
"We are in a logistics support response mode," with DHS, Mattis said, adding that "details are still being worked out" with respect to how the Pentagon's role in the operation will play out, while likening the response to the Defense Department providing housing to Vietnamese refugees rescued at sea in the years after the Vietnam War and for victims of hurricanes and other natural disasters....

Another side benefit is the immigration attorneys that defend these invaders will have to leave their cushy life and travel to a remote location upsetting their little system.
DoD has their own support contracts for this kind of base camp operations and life support (LOGCAP).
Once they are up and running, Trump can cut off the interest groups that have been profiteering on the child immigrant flow through the HHS contrcts, and kicking back money to the traffickers and the Left.
I saw a twitter thread today that only about a third of the money actually is spent on caring for the immigrants - much of the rest is laundered for the Left. The folks running the now biggest recipient, Southwest Key Programs (which just recently passed the long time leader, Baptist Child and Family Services), is run by folks on the board of La Raza.
“I would like to know where the heck they come up with 7 to 10 K to pay a human smuggler to get here?”
Often, the owe it to the gangs, and have to work as laborers, prostitutes or runners for the gang to pay it off.
When I was in elementary school I had to wash dishes to earn my “free” meal every day.
A lot of the bases have runways. They can go from tent straight to their flight home.
we are doing this all wrong. We should house them at US bases in germany, and leave the gate open
The alternative is “catch & kick-out IMMEDIATELY”.
All very good points.
I would like too see a massive wall and judges removed from this altogether.
This madness has to stop.
Either you come in legally, or you don’t come in at all.
And I’d like to see those who attempt to enter illegally become ineligible for citizenship permanently.
xlnt touch on that last point. Hadn’t seen that stated around very much. The idea of permanent denial is very appealing and practical.
No housing. Just tossing back where they came from. Don’t waste another dime on these moochers.
I think this deal is arranged because most posts and bases have an abundance of open property. You could sit up a 20 acre camp with fencing in a matter of three weeks (tents, dining, security, etc). None of these kids will be leaving their tent-city, and I’m guessing at least two fences, with guards walking to ensure they stay right there.
You have to agree on one factor....the US military knows how to run a tent-city. More than enough practice.
Now the left can really scream “internment camps”.
House them in their home countries. Buy a one way first class ticket for them and a coupon for a free month at a spa... it’ll save us about a hundred thousand in court costs, housing, attorney fees etc PER illegal.
Send them back to where they came from... If we do that every time AND they have to come up with another $6,000 to come back eventually they STOP coming back.
And the one way ticket home thing? The same plan will work will illegals here. It’s time for all of them to get the hell out of our country and GO BACK TO WHERE THEY CAME FROM.
Training to fight the next war, which will be fought in the form of millions of Central Americans demanding to move in and flooding the border.
Lol, u beat me to it
It will be very interesting to see how many are actually families.
Guam - I want to see if it can actually tip over....
I understand it but I also understand it will obtain a large public relations burden as well.
I was thinking that, plus South Korea, Germany, etc. :)
