Chicago and Stockton. Two basically broke or broken- down and dangerous cities. Anyone really crazy enough to want government to decide whether he gets health care or not — should really find some better ( and far far wealthier) municipal sponsors

Universal basic income will ensure that in short order we will be universally and basically screwed.

I meant universal income as well as universal govt medicine. Sorry for omission. Same basic problem applies. Offer them free haircuts the sheeple will queue up and riot to be sheered

UBI is a distraction to take attention away from much bigger problems caused by the Democrats.

Universal income? What utter BS. You are owed NOTHING. You want something, acquire the means to go and get it. We already have enough people sitting on their butts while others toil to support them through various means of welfare. That’s why taxes are so high-—too many takers and not enough earners.

I can tell you how my black sheep of the family brother would have spent free money...drugs, alcohol and cigarettes.

To get paid vote for me. To keep getting paid, do what I say and vote for me. To get a raise, here is the list of favors I need on a sliding scale of pay, and vote for me.

Like working for the Clintons. Before you know it you're stuffing your socks with classified documents, finding child prostitutes, and dumping bodies around D.C., and driving a shredder truck.

Finland wrapped up a test-phase of the Universal Basic Income deal this (back in the spring). I think they limited it to around 2,000 individuals for about a year. What they generally said was that they had a lot of data collected and wanted to spend at least a year studying the effort of the 2,000 folks and if there was value.

If you go and read through everything, the key point to the Finn experiment was that the Basic Income idea needed to help lessen unemployment (8.5-percent is the trend). It does not appear that the income idea did anything in relation to job creation (yeah, a shocker there).

If you go and read through all of the hyped-up chatter....basically Universal Basic Income is the new phrase to use instead of ‘welfare’. It makes people feel special. If you added up housing payments and welfare checks...it’d come to be almost the same exact level.

How can anyone be this stupid!

I’m aghast.

There is NO free lunch!

Someone (the poor taxpayer) always pays.

Down to the last effing band-aid in an ER, someone pays.

Sure, why not add ‘Basic Income’, on top of Bankruptcy?

Can Cities Pave the Way Toward a Universal Basic Income?

That's like having driven off a financial cliff, the imbeciles a pushing down on the accelerator.

I guess they are firm believers of the money Fairy.

In the universe of the clueless, they have never heard of the trendy word, "unsustainable."

"The question these pilots are seeking to answer—what will people do with the money?"

Well, they won't have to spend it on syringes, they get those free from the State of California. Perhaps lottery tickets, maybe one hooker per month?

I believe tqhat this data is simply false. It’s made up. Given extra money the poor will spend it on lottery tickets and their kids will still be hungry. Studies are propaganda.

How could the country shift its priorities to pay for the $3.9 trillion a year it would take to give a $1,000-a-month payment to every American? (Hint: Some advocates have suggested raising taxes on estates or instituting a carbon tax or even robot tax.)

Hint: TOTAL federal expenditures for FY 2017 was $3.9 trillion dollars.

Some countries have already tried and rejected this.
Switzerland has for one. If Canada did this, it would cost them about $15. BILLION annually. Ontario and Prince Edward provinces are still looking into it anyway.
