After coming under accusations of having sex with a minor, it appears that Cody Wilson, the man behind the 3-D Printable firearms company Defense Distributed, is somewhere in Taiwan being pursued by local police.

According to reporting by Chinese-language media outlet United Daily News, Wilson has skipped his flight home to the U.S. and has attempted to rent an apartment in Taiwan. He appears to have initially passed himself off as an American student living in the city but has since been turned away by a prospected landlord who recognized him and called the authorities.

United Daily News reports that area police and Taiwan’s Criminal Investigation Bureau are now trying to locate Wilson.

Wilson, who has recently won a legal battle against the State Department, a court decision which has pissed off Attorney Generals across the United States, has relentlessly pursued his principled passion for disseminating 3-D printable gun blueprints to the general public.

That’s not a good day for Mr. Wilson.

From what I hear the story of what allegedly happened is some minor lied about their age and met Mr. Wilson on a dating site and then he got busted for it which is total BS imo.

Get on a private fishing ship, and disappear for a while.

His problem is not the sex, as that is going to be hard to prove. His problem is going to be the pictures of of his package that he sent the 16 year old girl.

One is he said-she said. The other is tough to walk your way out of.

The problem is that the 16 year old got on the site and stated she’s 18. There’s no way he’s liable unless they can prove mens rea.

Simply because she lied about her age does not negate the Age of Consent Law in Texas.

Apparently she is 16 and that cannot be changed by how old she told him she was.

And there are allegedly the pictures of his package and a whole slew of text messages between the two.

The bottom line is that her lying to him about her age is not a crime, the things he is accused of are crimes.

The ‘men should be psychic rule’. Just another way the deck is stacked against males to take full advantage of their foibles even before all the current craziness.

That may be the case, but it is not the law.

I just find it INTERESTING that he got into this situation just after winning against the government...

I do find the timing highly suspicious. And it would be SOP for the FBI to frame someone that want to get.

I don’t approve of what he did, but it stinks of “set up.”

Her lying to him is not a crime, but if he never knew she was 16 then there are definite questions about mens rea. He went to the website KNOWING that everyone he would interact with would be 18 or above. With that knowledge, the female he interacted with, never telling him different, led him to believe she was of age.

If there are texts where she states or he questions and is answered that she is 16, then he is obviously guilty. However, if she leads him to believe otherwise, then there are questions of mens rea that will need to be argued in court.
