In short, it’s BAD news.
I HATE giving the govt more power, but they say there will be technology to let police know if you are texting while driving.
Don’t know how i feel about that.

It is a terribly tragic accident. But I must say that all the time I see kids either crossing the street to get to the bus or else walking around the front and crossing the opposite traffic lane WITHOUT LOOKING! Kids should be taught to ALWAYS check for traffic before proceeding no matter the situatio school bus or not.

You should have seen what a little Civic or something did to my son’s old Volvo because she was texting and driving and didn’t see it, the tow truck’s and the police car’s flashing lights.
Rammed his car from behind full tilt.
She was injured but we never found out more about how she made out.
Fortunately, my son was not in the car at the time.
100%. I see idiots in crosswalks just step out into traffic, and have had to lock them up. If I see someone in the mouth of a crosswalk I stop. Simple.
But some people walk down the sidewalk, then just turn into the crosswalk and step out.
It is crazy. I never, ever step out until I see the car come to a complete stop. It is similar to a driver attempting to pull out onto a roadway, and the car approaching has a turn signal on. I NEVER pull put until I see the car actually begin to turn.
As a pedestrian, the law may be on your side, but if you are crippled or six feet under, it won’t do you any good.
Additionally, God help this woman if she was texting...which seems likely to me. I hate it. I hate people texting while they drive.
Talking, texting, drinking or drugging???
More likely to be a cell phone than weed, IMO.

Why not sue Microsoft too? And Facebook? And the wireless providers?
I feel exactly as you do about people using cell phones on the road, but suing the companies who make phones is like suing Remington for a firearm used in a murder, or an SUV involved in a fatal accident.
That didn't happen until the passage of pedestrian right-of-way laws.
She was coming from the opposite direction. So she would/should have been seeing the lights on the front.
The next day the school Corp changed the bus route to pull into the trailer park.
The color of school buses are all the same.....SCHOOL BUS YELLOW.
As far as I know, and I used to sell auto paint, NO ONE is allowed to use that color except on school buses.
This twit may never have insurance again.

Alyssa Shepherd, 24, of Rochester, was arrested and charged Tuesday with reckless homicide and other crimes, records show.
Didn’t know that. I drive through a liberal town, and I swear, there must be something in the water. It is a relatively small downtown, but it has about five crosswalks in one short stretch, and the people are like suicidal lemmings.
I would laugh, but I am terrified that I am going to run into one of them, and I will have to live with that.
