The sky is NOT falling. The reprieve is for 3 weeks. During that time the fascists have to honestly come to the table and negotiate a deal that includes funding for the wall. If they do not come in good faith and there is no mutual agreement that Trump will sign then the shutdown can go back into place and he said he would use the emergency powers. The dems have been saying they will deal when the government reopens. They now have three weeks to make good or it all falls back on them.

Staten Island politicians also said WE would take the statue before letting it be torn down in Manhattan.

I’ll suggest a different outcome in three weeks. The legislation that will emerge will be complex, with a solution for DACA, lots more work visas and several billion for a smart wall (Trump) 21st century border protection (Dems) which will include sensors, drones, scanning technology, and maybe some for repair of existing barriers. No money for a big, beautiful wall. Trump will sign it and everyone will declare a success.
The facts are facts.

As I recall this has been what Lindsey Graham has been pushing for all along: temporarily reopen for further negotiations. If after the alloted time there is no deal then declare a national emergency and have the military start building the wall.
All this pearl-clutching is pretty pathetic.
Smh. It’s open for 3 weeks and the dems took the deal offered on Dec8th.
This wasn’t a loss it was a win.
