As President Trump threatens to transport illegal aliens to sanctuary cities, suddenly, many on the Left are feeling significantly less generous and magnanimous regarding illegal immigration.
Colloquially, this is known as "skin in the game." When people have no skin in the game, then the issue is "no skin off their back." Cher, for example, was gung ho when it came to immigration, as she had no skin in the game. However, when she had some skin in the game, her position suddenly became more conservative.

The libs suffer from NIMBY. POTUS is just bringing it to light.
First question should be: “Since you’ve been wrong about virtually everything for your entire life, have you considered seppuku?”
“Further, many restaurants begin automating these positions, replacing human beings with robots and machines. This not only hurts people in the present, but also hurts potential employees in the future. Raising the minimum wage felt good, but it did not actually do good.”
I disagree
At many Mcdonalds i can now order my meal without the barriers of language or urgency to get an order out.
You see, for years when I go to McDonald’s I order the Big Meal and a side of scrambled eggs.
I don’t eat the sausage or muffins. All in really wanted was two servings of eggs and my cup of coffee
If I attempted to order a side of eggs the process became tedious and confusing
Now I go to the kiosk and place an order for two orders of scrambled eggs and voila.
Moments later someone calls out customer number and hands me the breakfast I wanted
So, in am happy and they aren’t confused.
Win-Win...
Heh, let’s photoshop a face of either the Muzzie congresscritterwench or Occasional Cortex in there and we’ve got a winnah!
For example, take the old Leftie adage "if it feels good, do it." What that dictum instructs one NOT to do is analyze the results of what you do. What "if it feels good, do it" is actually saying is that "feelings" alone can be trusted when it comes to assessing the goodness of a thing or action. There is no reason to look any deeper.
Following this logic, if sex feels good, then it is good. By the same token, if calling for a higher minimum wage or social justice or sanctuaries cities feels good, it/they are good.
No need to dig any deeper--no need to consider the results of the action that feels so good.
That is what Trump pointed out to the Left in his effort to send detainees to sanctuaries cities. We can rest assured that the leadership in those cities (plus Cher) is/are completely flummoxed by all this.
I could never mar the beautiful
face of Mariko, Lady Toda Buntaro.
Hmmm. It may be time to watch
Shogun again. Great series.
The Founding Fathers essentially framed our system of federal gov’t on two basic responsibilities: 1) the protection of property rights (e.g., standing military, legal system) and 2) provision of social overhead capital (e.g., transportation system, protection of public assets—the FCC and airwaves). Where does it say the Federal gov’t should be in the banking business (e.g., student loans), giving away free stuff to get reelected (cell phones), or a bazillion other useless programs?
Son of a Gun. Shogun is available
to watch for free on Youtube.
Book is so much better.
After using the automation kiosk situation one time, I’d say it’s a big improvement. I feel the same way at Wal-Mart now...avoiding the cashier clerks, and just doing the self-swipe. I actually can’t remember the last time that I went into a gas station to pay....paying at the pump instead.
Yes indeed. What Japanese I know, I learned from reading the book.
It was originally supposed to be a general release movie...I saw the preview for it before another movie many decades ago. Then...nothing. Then came the mini-series. Turned out to be a good decision.
You could save a lot of money by simply buying a dozen eggs and then cooking them scrambled any way you like them. A dozen eggs is like a buck and a half or so. A lot less than what you spend at a McDs I'll wager.
The problem is you cant ask a liberal anything without triggering a tirade of shrieking and name calling. They dont talk to anyone but each other when it comes to politics.
Neither is to be missed. The book of ‘In Harm’s Way’ also has a lot more in it than the movie, but that’s not to knock the movie. The most faithful book to movie adaptation I have ever seen is Catch-22.
I’m rewatching as we type.
There are hardly any liberals left.
They are mostly leftist/pro-regressive.
Another question I’d like to ask is this: if you think businesses that make profits should have to share their profits, how about sharing their losses too? That is, when they go bankrupt, we have to bail them out, all of them? I mean, it’s only fair. You can’t stand there with your hand out whenever they make money, but leave them to fall into debt and bankruptcy alone.
1) do you have any "skin in the game"? (involves personal sacrifice or not)?
2) does this outcome "yank people down" (involves envy or not)?
3) does this outcome make you feel good inside but actually causes harm? (is this ecological in having consideration for cost and consequences for oneself and others affected?)
also
4) are all the resources (people, psycho-physiological states, time, capital, equipment, or material) required, available, or accessible.
5) does this outcome have a defined time frame
