On Saturday limited protests by Yellow Vests but a call on social media for Sunday protest in the center of Paris during the Bastille Day festivities.
Police were deployed in the thousand seizing Yellow Vests but protesters numbering in the hundreds were on hand to shout for the resignation of President Emmanuel Macron and deliver boos his way as Macron reviewed soldiers from a command car before their holiday march down the Champs-Elysees.
It was after the parade that the protest picked up in tempo on the famed avenue in Paris. Metal barriers thrown down in the streets as protesters estimated to be 300 by the police became active.
Some fires were lit and police began repeated tear gas attacks on the protesters.
They were wearing masks in some cases appearing to be "black bloc' anarchists.
Police made 180 arrests apparently trying to stop the protests from happening.
Some leading figures of the Yellow Vests among the arrested accused of staging an "illegal protest" and "rebellion" but they were later released and charges dropped.
Those arrested included Maxime Nicolle, Eric Drouet and Jerome Rodrigues.
So, who are these guys, and why are they burning down restaurants?
9, 8, 7....
6, 5, 4 ....
3, 2, 1....
Thanks for the thread, Nextrush
There were no fancy restaurants on the agenda for these folks on Bastille Day who appear to me to be anarchists, at least the fire setting folks in the street in the afternoon.
They did their thing with the barricades in the street, lighting fires.
The name translated from French for the black outfitted anarchists is “black blocs” and much speculation over how they end up doing this.
One, because that’s what they do.
Two, because the authorities let them organize and show up to do it so the Yellow Vests movement is discredited by them.
That’s my two cents worth.
A bas les aristos! Watch out for your head, Macron
