America won't see a draft because most Americans don't have the energy to fight

A lot of people, especially on the Left says that America will see a military draft. Look at this Twitter thread I saw tonight....a lot of millennials don't even have respect for those who are going to deal with this Iranian crisis....they are belittling their service saying that "they signed up for it, etc."

Baloney.

America will never have a draft again because we have rejected globalism and know damn well that our government should not be trusted under any circumstances when it comes to these foreign disasters.

As I once told someone in an argument on this very subject during the Iraq war in 2003 ... "I'll go over there when there are Bush and Cheney family members sitting next to me on the C-130."

Where is all this talk of a draft coming from?

It would take months to get the system in place.
It would take a year to get the first troops inducted and trained.
It would take a couple of years to get women included.

Any significant war (Russia/China) would be over before they could do a lottery.

The kids today are so emotional and stupid.

Actually, you're seeing a general, widespread loss of manhood in this and other countries.

Not just limited to Lefties - you must have seen some of the cowardly idiocy posted here after we killed Suleimani. Any wonderful we're looking at drafting girls now?

Believe it or not, there was a US Representative who voted against the US declaring war on Japan after Pearl Harbor.

It’s America.

The Japanese took little solace in her vote when those atomic bombs started going off.

We won’t see a draft because the SC would mandate women be included, then women’s activist would explode in anger.

A draft is irrelevant because we simply aren’t engaging in big force-on-force battles the way we did during WWII. If we ever end up fighting China across the Pacific the way we did Japan, or Russia across the European mainland, we will need a draft. Against non-peer adversaries who might as well be armed with bows-and-arrows? Not so much. A peacetime draft is a waste of money. Whereas a draft during an extended war with a near-peer power is a necessity.

If we do manage to keep any war conventional, we’re not going to need people, but, unless it ends quickly, we will need resources, and lots of it. There will be new, large, taxes - for certain.

The kids today are so emotional/stupid/disrespectful of people who sacrifice to fight these wars because these millennials were sheltered during Afghanistan/Iraq.

During WWII/Korean/Vietnam/Gulf, most Americans knew we were in war.

Since technology/etc Americans have no clue what’s going on

Its just democrat online activists stoking fear of the orange man. There is no logic behind it, other than to keep the people on their plantation afraid.

Unfortunately, China would kick the crap out of us in a war.

For Russia, I don’t think they have any desire or ability to get in a war with the U.S.

I think we could keep China out of Africa or the eastern Pacific. We will never beat them over Korea or Taiwan. And only a moron would consider going into China.

1. They are either out of shape or downright fat.
2. “Cannon fodder” has no real place in modern warfare; it’s a waste of resources.

If we don't have the "fight" in us it's because this country has been in a perpetual state of conflict since the Korean War (I'm sure that can be stretched to 1942).

People who are "soft" still have that dang thing called human nature inside of them, no matter how soft, civilized or fat they become. When people talk about the "soft" U.S., I often think of this Star Trek DS9 quote from Quark:

Quark: Let me tell you something about Hew-mons, Nephew. They're a wonderful, friendly people, as long as their bellies are full and their holosuites are working. But take away their creature comforts, deprive them of food, sleep, sonic showers, put their lives in jeopardy over an extended period of time and those same friendly, intelligent, wonderful people... will become as nasty and as violent as the most bloodthirsty Klingon. You don't believe me? Look at those faces. Look in their eyes.

The thing is, we have the means to actually project our human nature to anywhere on the planet, if we so choose.

The US as policeman of the world is only leading to a police state at home. Let’s focus on liberty at home. The federal government is the biggest threat to liberty that we face.

I’m not clear about your point. You seem to scorn Americans for not having the “energy” for a draft. I interpret that as meaning you’re not against the draft, you’re simply disappointed or disgusted with the lack of energy in average Americans.

Does that mean you would support bringing back the draft if we can instill sufficient “energy to fight” in Americans?
