Never worry our incompetent, corrupt government will handle the situation. The RATS will join together and impeach Trump yet again, this time for the Pandemic.

I would look to get some simple things:

N95 mask
Gloves
Bleach

And then anything else that you would consume normally, OR stuff that will last a long time.

If it starts in the US:

Food, gas for cars or generators
Stuff that you would need if the just time time delivery process ends.
At this point you are staying inside and not going to the hospital.
Basic first aid, flu meds, stuff with electrolytes.
Heating plan if you are in the colder climes.

At this point try to pin down the few things you might need if sick.
You should already have some food put up.

I think the mental mode should be alert, nowhere near panic.

Never did the survivalist storehouse thing. Except for certain instruments used in harvesting ‘food’. The whole Coronavirus thing stymies me. Hopefully my hyperactive immune system will block it like it does many diseases everyone else seems to get.

I honestly do not understand what you’re talking about. Are you concerned because of the coronavirus?

But since Trump got elected, I think some of us may have gotten a bit complacent (I certainly did).

Please, don't take this as a dig. If anyone got complacent, they were never really in the game to begin with. They were just dabbling.

As of Dec 2019, 2400 people have died from the flu and 2.5 Million people where infected - and you are worried about the 81 people that have died, mostly in 3rd world hell-holes living in unsanitary conditions?

Leave the panicing to the DUmmies.

Just like every other media-induced orgy of doom, this too shall pass.

Around 25 years ago, I put together a “bug out bag” in case of roving zombies. It has basically been sitting the whole time.

For the last month or so, I have been searching for a Pentax compact binocular. Still haven’t found it but came across that bag. So heavy, I could barely lift it.

Going through it was like searching for buried treasure. At other times I would think to myself, “what was I thinking”.

Some were nice and glad I still have them. For instance a few high end knives with a couple of small sharpeners. Also a box of .22 ammo, (why not more?). Half the bag was candles and a huge number of of old matchbook matches. I checked them out and none still worked. I did have a few boxes of matches made for outdoors and they worked.

Ten high quality compasses. Why so many? I still don’t know.

I guess the few rolls of wire and strong twine made sense, as did the FEG. .22 LR Pistol which is tried and true.

No gun oil etc. at all. No shelter halves, No high calorie pemican. No compact binoculars. No medications. No sewing needles etc.

Oh well I never needed any of it.

Avoid hospitals, clinics, airlines, movie theatres, confined crowds, etc. as much as possible. Hate being on a plane and smelling cough drops. I work in the facility design group for a major university hospital. Much apprehension when you realize just how many Asian medical personnel and students there are running around.

Now, obviously just because one may be Asian, or more specifically, Chinese, that does not mean that person is contaminated, but a large percentage do travel home for the holidays and are just getting back. There are a lot of masks being worn but, on the other hand, we tend to see that every flu season. What to do? What to do?...

I'm gonna take a freight train, down at the station
I don't care where it goes
Gonna climb me a mountain, the highest mountain
Jump off, nobody gonna know...

My lovely wife reminded me last night that I once kept food supplies that would last a long time, just in case ‘it’ happened. She ask me where all that stuff was and I told her it will take a few days but it’ll be in place soon.

Stock up on water, and non-perishables.

It is always wise to have a 2 month supply of water stocked, and the same for dried beans and canned meats and stuff.

The panic buying is the worst- you want to avoid that.

But probably nothing will happens from this... but luck favors the well prepared.

A few years ago, the local paper published a letter my Grandfather had written to them in 1918. He had later become a very prominent citizen.

Among the interesting things was that he had been forced to suspend his studies due to financial reasons. I wondered why then remembered that Daddy had been born a few months previous.

The real interesting thing is he mentioned so many of his friends passing away. Then it hit me! The Spanish Flu.

“Debating if I need to start prepping in case this virus goes full blown.”

We had a few relatives in the midwest and eastern states ask us since we live in the land of disasters, aka California, with year round disasters:. Fires, earthquakes, floods and ????.

What type of preparations should they think about. So we put this together yesterday as a semi joke. We got thank you’s back from many relatives and friends some good suggestions. Which we added.

With the modern curse of next day delivery of food, water, medicine and other necessary items, There are no basic inventories past a couple of days before outages.

My wife has 40 plus years of being an RN, and I can spell MBA.

Here is our modest prep plan for even Californians:

What, would happen if your community was basically shut down for 2-4 weeks due to a quarantine.

No one could leave or get into your community for 2-4 weeks.

What you and your family eat and drink

When would you have power failures and maybe natural gas shutoffs. Cooking might be impossible without power. Keeping food fresh and edible in refrigerators and freezers becomes a 24/7 challenge.

Living in California, besides our grab/go bags, we keep enough water and food for 2-3 weeks. Also, food that doesn’t have to be refrigerated or frozen.

Food that is in our combo refrig/freezer lasts for 2-4 days to a week if we get in and out quickly. The freezer on the bottom has frozen bottles of water on the top shelves. Food is still edible after a few days.

Our standing freezer with frozen water bottles on top inside shelf, has kept food frozen for 5-7 days with the get in and out quick action.

So, you eat your refrig food first, your freezer food next and then your non refrig/freezer food.

If this thing goes full viral, you need to have 2-4 weeks of food and water handy.

You, also, need to have 2-4 weeks of your important Rx medicines and that minimum for your daily otc meds. The same goes for tooth paste and similar items.

Keep at least a half tank of gasoline in your vehicles. Good luck with any solar vehicle that has to have its batteries charged to get out of your driveway.

Home and self defense needs to be considered.

You people are idiots. Go ahead and live in the woods with a bunch of guns if that’s your great idea

People get on this planet for millennia

Do United States of America has been around for almost 300 years

People of been talking about the rapture revelation and the second coming says Jesus was hung on the cross and was risen from the grave

The bottom line is the doom and gloom type people the purveyors of nonsense and scare tactics and massive hysteria are as evil as Joseph Goebbels
