Four members of the Toledo City Council, all Democrats, were arrested and charged in a bribery scheme by federal law enforcement authorities on Tuesday.
Federal prosecutors alleged that Tyrone Riley, Yvonne Harper, Larry Sykes, and Garrick Johnson, were involved in a scheme that extorted money from business owners in the Ohio city in exchange for favorable council votes. The FBI began its investigation into the council members in early 2018.
Each of the accused members could face up to 10 years in prison for the bribery charges, and up to 20 years on the extortion charges.
Also charged in the scheme was an attorney who is accused of helping orchestrate the crimes.

My dream is these new Toledo Dems are added to the many UAW leaders indicted-—
- March, 2020 stories....Federal prosecutors accused Gary Jones, the former head of the 400,000-member union, of conspiring with other senior UAW officials to embezzle more than $1 million and covering up the alleged misconduct with fake receipts and fraudulent expense reports....////
and they end up in prison and one says:”Hey, isn’t that old dude walking past us that famous guy. That, what’s his name guy?”
Other con: “Mueller. The one who set up Trump. He’s right behind Schiff and Nadler. Going to the dining hall to join Comey in there. Boy how the mighty have fallen. At least we’re in prison with celebs. Could be worse.”

All very well dressed. City council usually doesn’t pay that well, and you know, they deserve more.
Events like this and the bust of the voter fraudsters in New Jersey make me think that a lot more is going on behind the scenes than we patriots realize.
I know AG Barr doesn’t get a lot of love on these threads, but I have remained quietly neutral.
Certainly, the corruption runs so wide and deep that any draining of the swamp will be a herculean task.
