Mayor Bill de Blasio is permitting Black Lives Matter protesters to continue marching through city streets while the city is canceling all large events through September.
Speaking on CNN Thursday night, de Blasio said the demonstrators calls for social justice were too important to stop after more than a month of demonstrations have not led to an outbreak of coronavirus cases.
This is a historic moment of change. We have to respect that but also say to people the kinds of gatherings were used to, the parades, the fairs we just cant have that while were focusing on health right now, de Blasio told host Wolf Blitzer.
The exception came as New Yorks rate of infections has remained consistent through the civil unrest over the Minneapolis police killing of George Floyd.
De Blasi also helped in painting the BLM mural.

n a letter submitted Thursday to NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio, the women of Women for America First requested that, in light of the mayor allowing Black Lives Matter activists to paint a taxpayer-funded BLM mural in front of Trump Tower on 5th Avenue, the mayor allow them to paint their own mural.
[O]ur organization, too, would like to paint a mural of our motto Engaging, Inspiring and Empowering Women to Make a Difference! on Fifth Avenue, or another similar street within the citys jurisdiction, the ladies wrote.
In the event your Honor does not allow our organization to use Fifth Avenue, we propose painting our mural on FDR Drive outside Gracies Mansion. Alternatively, we are amenable to painting our mural on 42nd Street near Times Square, or even City Hall Park should you prefer.

When the going gets tough, send in the women to do the job! God bless them!!
The Republicans in the office that are sitting on their hands will go down in history as cowards! Their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, as they are standing in the breadlines, will never speak your name.
Tyranny MUST be stopped!
love it! I’m sure they will be denied or ignored totally.
here is no equal representation under the law. The country needs an overhaul
They have been cowards for a long time. Its just become more obvious in recent times.
Every organization in the city should file for their own mural of equal size and comparable location — and threaten to sue if they are denied.
Why should BLM get preferential treatment just because it is a bunch of thugs making threats?
Way to go!
Time to start fighting back using any means at our disposal.
Its rampant. Examples of unequal treatment under the law abound. Yet the DOJ hasn’t done a damn thing about any of it.
There is no equal representation under the law.
There certainly is. Its not being enforced.
Blechh. Whoever wrote this spends the first half whining about DeBlahalah
Stop with the wimp behavior it is as disgusting as the house and senate.
Good for them!
Push back is long overdue.
Here’s an idea: create an “organization” called Christian BLM and apply for permits to march and put up murals. See if they dare refuse them. Then go ahead and have a conservative gathering with American flags and proTrump signs with just a few CBLM signs mixed in. Watch the progressive heads explode.
What’s suddenly with all these “street murals”?
There’s not enough graffiti in the world already?
Not only that, I noticed from the NYC photos, DOT workers are being paid to work on this sh!t.
How about Baby Lives Matter outside Planned Parenthood.
But...they might still use DeBlasio’s name...even if only as a swear word.
Black out the V in the current street art so it reads “black lies matter”.
Looks like the idiot mayor has opened a can of worms and he can’t wiggle out of it.
How about MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN outside Gracie Mansion?
