Ping.
Writer has no clue what he's talking about.
The war would not have been lost but would have been extended another year..maybe two.
IF we'd lost Guadalcanal, more attention would have been shifted to the Pacific.
Our production would continue to ramp up and would not have begun to slow as it did in 1945.
The only way we were going to lose WWII was through lack of will.
We were a different country then.
Excellent read. Thanks for the periodic repost. 8>)
It doesn’t say the war would be lost, just that it might be lost.
There wasn’t a chance.
Great story, thank you for posting.
>>Writer has no clue what he’s talking about.<<
Please, enlighten me. The story is as it happened, but you seem to have a problem with it.
My father fought in the Solomon’s as a young company grade; that was 78 years ago, not 58 years. Fifty-eight years ago he was stationed at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard as a field grade; having recently returned from the Korean War/Chosin Reservoir.
For starters...his assertion we “might” have lost the war. Nope. Not gonna happen.
The story was originally written in year 2000.
you stated: “Writer has no clue what he’s talking about.”
Please tell me what he got wrong rather than bloviating what may or may not have happened.
We weren’t going to lose the war.
Are you the writer? Is he one of your relatives?
Well I accept your opinion, as long as you realize it is your opinion. The reality may or may not be as the author described. Fortunately we will never know because the Washington was successful. Still a riveting article, at least for me. 8>)
you are nt worth my time. you are a clueless idiot.
I think he did a dis-service to the article by trying to sensationalize the story. His hyperbole doesn’t help him.
No, that’d be the writer who suggested we could lose the war.
That is just so cool. Thanks for posting that as I never thought of where they came up with the face that had the scar.
Fact on all points
