I met up with The Planteman, Chris Plante, last weekend and he’s extremely busy with his weekly morning show, which has expanded to several US markets over the years and is heard all over the world via the Internet as well as the WMAL website. Some of the countries he’s heard at in real time are Sweden, Norway, Italy, Israel, Australia and many more. We chatted for a while and he was very appreciative of all of the support that the hardcore WMAL listeners have given him over the years, as well as Freepers who were a constant force at the very beginning of his radio show career.
You may recall that Chris started in June 2006 doing a nightly show on WMAL and he’d do about 2 hours on Sundays with the Late “WMAL Token Liberal” Jerry Klein. A few months later, he was moved to the coveted morning slot and in 2017, he went national in syndication. Back in the early days, in 2006, his only callers were Freepers who live in the DC region and we’d post links to his show here in Free Republic, where we chatted during the show, much like the Levin & Limbaugh forums. This is one of the forums that helped in getting the word out about his show and also helped create his hardcore fan base. In fact, in July 2008, the first Plante meet-up was entirely composed of Freepers (it took place at National Harbor). He’s never forgotten the support and encouragement from Freepers.

I listened to Chris today on I Heart Radio. Sometimes I go to the WMAL website too. A great show!

I will miss Rush. Big shoes to fill. But, yes. I think he would be excellent.

I started listening to WMAL when I first moved here back during Hardin and Weaver days. Still miss Andy and Grandy.
Mornings now I listen to WCBM. WMAL the rest of the day

Good to hear that Silvie. Back in the early days it was fairly easy to get through to Chris and I did a couple of times. I usually listen via the internet. Good to hear from you too. Voted yesterday and hoping for a good outcome Tuesday. Ciao!

I post the weekly/daily CP Show thread on FR, and maintain the Ping List. Sylvie was kind enough to lend me her List to get the thread initially started, and more have been added. Whatever are you really whining about now, HG?
It’s a shame that the whiniest, most obnoxious person on FR, can’t get his facts straight.
Plante is extremely smart and well-informed. He knows first hand the dangers of the Mainstream Media. It is Trump vs.

This is true, no one can match Rush. So I’d like to see a two man team drawn from Chris Plante, Larry O’Connor (also heard on WMAL 3-6 pm), or Mark Stein.
