Not much is known about the so-called “new strain” of the virus, but that hasn’t stopped the ruling class from using it to their advantage.

The latest narrative, which is being used as a vector for endless amounts of COVID-19 panic and fear mongering, is related to the claim that there is a new mutation of the novel coronavirus spreading, which is claimed to be much more contagious — a claimed 70%(!) increase in transmissibility — than the original dominant variant.

I usually hold it until I get to work. Better to run up their sewer bill, and use their tp.

I was in Sam’s the other day with my son and we got to the back of the store where the paper goods were stocked and the shelves were full to the rafters of all kinds of paper goods, tp, paper towels, kleenex, and napkins.

We just stood there and stared at it for a moment. I haven’t seen so much paper goods in one spot since March.

We were laughing about it.

Australia is still in full covid hysteria despite -

Australia: Pop. 26 million; covid deaths - ***908; last death - one on 30 November; before that - 2 on 28 October; no-one in ICU; only 20 deaths under 60 years of age:
https://www.health.gov.au/news/health-alerts/novel-coronavirus-2019-ncov-health-alert/coronavirus-covid-19-current-situation-and-case-numbers#cases-and-deaths-by-age-and-sex

I have purposely NOT INCLUDED one new “covid death” today!

28 Dec: Daily Mail: One of Australia’s first ever Covid patients dies of complications from the virus NINE MONTHS after contracting the disease
A man died from Covid-19 related respiratory complications on December 21
The NSW man, aged in his 70s, had first contracted coronavirus in March
Dr Kerry Chant said the man had recently tested negative to coronavirus
The latest fatality brings the state’s Covid death toll to 56 and Australia’s to 909
By TITA SMITH FOR DAILY MAIL AUSTRALIA and AUSTRALIAN ASSOCIATED PRESS

Chief Medical Officer Dr Kerry Chant said he recently tested negative to the virus.
‘He was a household contact for a locally-acquired case and although his death is considered to be related to Covid, that’s based on the doctors completing a death certificate as to the cause of death,’ Ms Chant said.
‘He had recently tested negative and was no longer infectious and posed no risk to the community.’...
‘I think this highlights the fact that sometimes the complications can be so severe that the lung damage and other complications arising from Covid can subsequently be the cause of death many months later,’ she said...

here’s a taste of Australia’s latest covid insanity:

28 Dec: The Australian: Liberal (CONSERVATIVE) MP Jason Falinski calls for partying backpackers to be deported
By Finn Mchugh, NCA NewsWire
Backpackers who partied on NSW beaches during the state’s COVID outbreak should be deported, according to a Liberal MP.
Hundreds of people, mostly backpackers, flouted health orders to flood Sydney’s Bronte Beach for a raucous Christmas Day party.
Police were forced to disperse the gathering in the afternoon but confirmed no arrests had been made...

(Liberal MP Jason Falinski) has also called for the use of facial recognition technology to identify partygoers.
“Their visas should be cancelled and they should be deported immediately,” he told the Northern Beaches Advocate
Saturday...

NSW Health Minister Brad Hazzard labelled the party as “absolutely appalling” and warned it could prove to be a “super-spreading” event.
He said backpackers should appreciate the relative freedoms they enjoyed in Australia.
“If they were in Europe right now, most of them would be in lockdown and not even allowed outside the front door,” he said on Saturday.
***“The fact that you can go out is a privilege, and it should be respected in an appropriate way, in accordance with the government’s requirements.”...

28 Dec: Sydney Morning Herald: New Year’s Eve in Sydney, your questions answered
By Mary Ward and Amelia McGuire
There will be just one fireworks display to ring in 2021 – a seven-minute affair at midnight, which Premier Gladys Berejiklian has repeatedly urged people to watch from their homes – ***and a pass system which will keep numbers to a minimum at some of the city’s best vantage points (as councils implement road blocks and park closures at others)...

From 5pm on New Year’s Eve, a “green zone” will be in effect around Circular Quay, The Rocks and Royal Botanic Garden in the CBD as well as Bradfield Park, Lavender Bay, Blues Point, Kurraba Reserve and Cremorne Reserve on the lower north shore.

Anyone planning to be in these areas from 5pm will need to apply for a New Year’s Eve pass from the Service NSW website...
New Year’s Eve passes will only be granted to those with a hospitality, event or accommodation booking in the green zone after 5pm, residents of the green zone and their guests, and those working in the green zone that evening.

New Year’s Eve passes will only be granted to those with a hospitality, event or accommodation booking in the green zone after 5pm, residents of the green zone and their guests, and those working in the green zone that evening...

Residents of the green zone will need to apply for a pass and register any planned guests with Service NSW. To do this, you will need two identity documents with your green zone address, as well as the number of people you will be hosting (you will receive a code for them to use to apply for their own passes, as if they were attending a venue)...

Unfortunately, the plan to have frontline workers watch the fireworks up close was cancelled on Monday in light of ongoing coronavirus cases in Sydney. “We’ll find another opportunity during the year to recognise what you have done,” the Premier said...

VIDO: 1m: 28 Dec: Sky News Australia: Victoria bans New Year’s Eve kissing
Victoria has banned the New Year’s Eve midnight kiss despite the state going 59 consecutive days with no locally acquired coronavirus cases.
The state government has issued guidance for people not to kiss anyone outside their immediate family, to prevent celebrations becoming a super spreading event.
Victorians are being advised to take hand sanitizer to parties on the night.

What's scary is the US is the most powerful nation on earth. The capitalist engine that drives the economies for the rest of the world. That shining light on the hill for freedom-seekers from around the world.

And we're talking about running out of toilet paper again?

WE the People need to wake up to what the Marxist Left is doing to this country. They want to take us backwards, not forward, despite their lame slogans.

I hear that TP can be used as a super effective mask.
Take a wad, and wet it down, apply it to your face as one would apply Papier-mâché and let it dry.
I hear it’s effective at stopping the virus because it won’t even let air through it - if applied properly...

“The latest narrative...which is claimed to be much more contagious — a claimed 70%(!) increase in transmissibility — than the original dominant variant.”

I’m as anti-FluBro as they come, but this is getting silly. So this ‘new strain’ shows up just as the PR Machines are in full-force to get people to vaccinate.

So I did a bit of looking into just how ‘bad’ this UK outbreak is, and compared it to the rise in cases in early November, in the rest of Europe (which lasted 3 weeks and then subsided). Guess what, no worse. Difference being when that outbreak started there was no vaccine (we hadn’t voted yet), there was no talk about a ‘Frankenstein Strain’, and the reaction in Europe was NOT panic. Click on the individual countries to see...and keep in mind that the UK, Italy, and France have almost the same populations, so direct number comparisons are fine.

https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/

If you go to the US site above and click on Florida, California, and Texas, you’ll see how great the California lock-down is working against the Florida and Texas, two states without lockdowns (hint, California is far worse)...so, so much for that great ‘solution’.

https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/us/

As to debating the vaccine, it won’t matter, vaccination will not be by choice, it will be done by lawyers advising travel companies (and likely all other big companies) that the best way for companies to not get sued for outbreaks is to simply require proof of vaccination...at that point, we’ll all get to decide what rights/freedoms/careers we want to trade-off if we choose to not vaccinate. The only real hope for the anti-vaxxers who want to keep their full freedom would be laws to prohibit companies from imposing vaccination requirements - not going to happen, not under Biden, and not with this Congress in any case. So, feel free to keep arguing it, but the ‘fix’ is in, like it or not.

“the paper goods were stocked and the shelves were full to the rafters”

A few months ago my wife asked a groceryman when they’d be getting in more toilet paper. He said they had lots of it in the stockroom. They put some of it out each Monday morning when the store has specials for old people.

Average American usage is 30 rolls a year???

I don’t think so. Many TP suppliers are now making rolls with 425 sheets.

Using the ‘30 rolls a year’ calculation, that is 12 days +++ for a roll.

Men do not need as much as women...I use more than a man does. I am getting about 5 days to a roll of 425 sheets.

I do use the bathroom more often, at my age of over 80, but I still could not get thru a whole year EVER with only 30 rolls.

My neighbor-—a male—keeps saying he doesn’t understand the fears over TP. I keep asking him-—WHAT is YOUR substitute???

If we get to 60 rolls before covid it was a red alert for my wife and I would hear we need tp!

My Mom grew up dirt poor in the Appalachians and they had an outhouse. At night they they carried a lantern to see getting to and from the outhouse. In the winter they used it to stay warm while doing their business and there was no such thing as toilet paper, they their old Sears and JC Penny catalogs in the outhouse ready for ready and other purposes.
