Conservatives Need A Pro-Family Agenda Beyond Tax Credits
American Conservative ^ | 2/12/2021 | Patrick Brown

For decades, discussions of “family policy” in the U.S. have been associated with the broader liberal agenda, from raising the minimum wage to universal childcare and paid leave mandates. The default conservative response has been to resort to the usual talking points: too expensive, too heavy-handed, too much of a threat to liberty.

OK how about this. Change the platform from “Stay out of my business, full stop” to “Stay our of my FAMILY’S business, full stop”.

When we talk.of certain aspects of a pro family agenda, we get attacked.

For example, if we talk about the importance of marriage and the importance of fathers, we get crucified and given the Dan Quayle treatment.

Its very hard for us to have certain discussions in a politically correct world. So those discussions don’t happen.

A Conservative agenda would be great.
Problems is that a conservative agenda is not the Republican agenda. And given our present Republican “leadership”, I doubt that it ever will be. As such, they’ll keep failing and failing and failing. More Trump. Less RINOs.

While we could have many agendas, none really make sense unless we have a working democratic system and a working Supreme Court.

Right now we have neither.

I have considered many of the illnesses of our Republic and have come to the Conclusion that the best way to eliminate them, or come to terms with them, is a Balanced Budget Amendment.

In that Amendment, Congress can only claim success if they produce a budget that matches the previous years revenue. Obviously, this can not be followed in a declared war. The penalty for failure to produce a balanced budget is that ALL of Congress does not get paid, and looses all ‘special’ benefits including past office holders, until the budget is balanced.

This would be the first step for the Public to start to question how government spends money, and what services should remain for Americans. Americans would be forced to deal with Welfare, Military spending, and ‘give away’ as well as the money going to other countries and funneled back into Political families (Think Bidens).

The root of most of the societal divide is that Fedgov has managed to separate us based upon taxes and benefits. We have/will fail as a Republic until we are all in the same boat, and government accountability occurs.

Getting government out of the mix is always the best approach. Nothing has been more destructive to the family than government meddling in social AND economic affairs.

Interestingly, I am finding that the lunacy of modern leftists, coupled with the idiocy of COVID lockdowns, has helped incentivize some things that will actually make families stronger. For example: In my neck of the woods, the business establishments that have been at the forefront of resisting government-mandated COVID lockdowns are family-run businesses with few (if any) employees outside the family.

With that as a backdrop, here are three things that should serve as the focus of a pro-family conservative agenda:

1. Raise tax deductions for children and close-family dependents -- to the point where someone earning even 150% of the median U.S. income will pay no income taxes.

2. Waive a whole boatload of regulatory requirements for any business where more than 50% of the full-time employees are family members.

3. A three-pronged approach to education reform: (A) eliminate taxpayer funding for public schools; (B) eliminate compulsory education laws; and (C) make K-12 education expenses fully tax-deductible.

If you want to help American families stop importing an endless brown wave of immigrants to flood our cities.

“an agenda that puts families first must push beyond the tax code, to address a whole series of policy failures, including [...] housing policy that incentivizes detached single-family residences”

How do detached single-family residences harm the family?

Conservative Christians lazily accept government intrusion into family life, in return for that coveted vetting of their beloved church of choice with the government 503c stamp of approval.

Government isn’t MOMMY!

Conservatives do not preach, nor sign onto anything the Federal Government NEVER was authorized or empowered to do!

It is the progressives/Dems who have corrupted the constitution and its limitations of the general government and the rule of law. And have created scores of offices and officers that eat away at our substance, freedoms and liberty.

The conservatives stand for limited governance and maximum liberty. The pruning of government back to its limited influence and place under the laws of the constitution.

NO WAY do we need to counter the leftist socialism, with conservative socialism!

The constitution authorizes, and subject under its laws, a federal form of governance among a union of republic states. The federal governments powers are few, enumerated and defined to specifically administer the laws of the union compact; and gives the Federal government authorization to act and SERVE on behalf of the several states, the union and the people. An authority that empowers it with a primary duty and responsibility to serve in DEFENDING our way of life. Not constrain it, interfere with it, provide for it, or redistribute it. And that it will ‘ACT’ ONLY on our behalf as guardians of our security, life and liberty, THAT IS IT!

And it is to STAY THE HELL OUT OF THE WAY and leave us alone!

Sure. I guess these endeavors are not "pro-family" enough: I could go on, but you get the idea.

I do not support using the tax system to subsidize having kids, or owning a home.
