While it’s not celebrated too widely outside of New England, Patriots’ Day (or “Patriot’s Day” if you live in Maine) is a big deal there, primarily in the state where the Battles of Lexington and Concord actually took place – Massachusetts. For anyone reading this from New England who isn’t aware: No, you’re not getting the third Monday in April off so you can stay home and watch the Boston Marathon.
Even before the Declaration of Independence was written, there were the Battles of Lexington and Concord – the true beginning of the American Revolution. To be sure, this is something that had been brewing for some time. There was the Boston Massacre, the Boston Tea Party, and the Intolerable Acts. But the Battles of Lexington and Concord marked the first shots fired between Patriots and Tories, beginning what would eventually lead to the independence of the American colonies from the British Empire.
While the battles began as a small skirmish, they quickly became a bona fide fight – and a bridge from which the American rebels could not walk back.
Increasing Tensions in the Massachusetts Bay Colony
By the time of the battles, the British occupying troops had already earned the nickname of “redcoats,” or even “devils” depending on who you spoke to. They had been occupying Boston since 1768, and due to forced quartering as well as increased resistance on the part of the colonists, the tensions between the natives and the occupying army were only growing with time.

“By the crude bridge that arched the flood,
Their flags to April’s breeze unfurled;
There the embattled farmers stood
And fired the shot heard ‘round the world.”
Just think...
If the British had simply handed out stimulus-money, none of this would have ever happened...
Still three years after the Gaspee Affair...
On this day in history:
Americans enforce RKBA against British efforts To violate same.
We have as much right to lay claim to Patriot heritage as we do on being Vikings.
The founders would feed us to thier pigs.
My ancestors were Green Mountain Boys.
They’re spinning.
From the website:
You can’t write the story of America without including several chapters about the skill and bravery of our forefathers. On April 19, 1775, at Lexington and Concord, American colonists stood with muskets in hand and faced down the British forces that were trying to seize their arms. The colonists did it with grit, determination, and superior marksmanship. They were real marksmen: nobly and ably putting their skills on the line in pursuit of liberty.
We are the descendants of those fearless men and women who earned our freedom on the battlefield. We honor their pursuit of liberty by passing along the skills and knowledge that aided them in securing it. Today’s Rifleman understands that owning and mastering a rifle is part of his/her American heritage. Whether you’re a new shooter or a seasoned marksman, Project Appleseed can help transform you from a person with a rifle into a principled and skilled Rifleman.

That's right, because it was canceled [again] because -- COVID. Now rescheduled for Columbus Day. The "Indigenous" are offended.
(Did Columbus ever get his head back? His statue in the park at Long Wharf was beheaded last year.)
Patriot's Day, April 19th, 2021, was the day off to stay home and watch INGENUITY fly. That was one small step for man on the Moon that resulted in one giant leap for mankind on Mars. Sol 58. Just as chen reverses to Noach, 58 reverses to 85.
The Revolution Happens Here, on "this date in history". It was all in the timing, because a watchdog timer expired. Spin spin spin, the lil' ingin that could, the soul at Gen 1:2.
Besides, everybody knows that "Yankee" is Ingenuity's SOL-mate. :)
So how about that canceled marathon, anyway -- Naftali the long-distance runner of the family had been dispatched to Egypt for the title deed, but then deaf Chushim came along and beheaded Esau, thereby causing Esau's head to end up "buried" along with Jacob. That was The Point. At 147, counting from [0]2108. At the head of the corner.
Those who do not live in Massachusetts or New England frequently confuse or conflate the holiday with Bunker Hill Day or Evacuation Day. The former of these celebrates an unrelated battle in June, and the latter commemorates the British evacuation from the city of Boston after the successful siege by the nascent Continental Army. Evacuation Day, for its part, is often confused with St. Patricks Day because it is commemorated on the same day.
All of these (except St. Patricks Day, of course) are part of a family of holidays known as Minor Revolutionary Holidays. But Patriots Day is arguably the most important of them for three reasons. First, it celebrates the very beginning of our nation. Before the Battles of Lexington and Concord, we were nothing more than a bunch of colonies with a few radical rebels. After the battles, we became a nation in the making.
It's like those "minor" holidays of Rabbinic origin. Minor Revolutionary Holidays.. little "technology demonstrations".
Next year it'll be a triple Purim on March 17th: Purim + SPD + Evacuation Day.
Purim: give give give; drink drink, drink
Saint Patrick's Day: drink drink drink; spin, spin, spin
Chanukah: spin spin spin; give give give
Full circle. ;)
We gotta get out of this place
If it's the last thing we ever do
We gotta get out of this place
Girl, there's a better life for me and you
Believe me baby
I know it baby
You know it too
Mann and Weil wrote and recorded "We Gotta Get Out of This Place" as a demo, with Mann singing and playing piano. It was intended for The Righteous Brothers, for whom they had written the number one hit "You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'"...

A lot of people don't appreciate the King of Comedy.. don't get the type of humor. Dry wit. Deadpan.
Gotta live a little:
A lot of us do have some Viking ancestors.
Remember, it was estimated of the Revolutionary War that about 1/3 of Americans were patriots, 1/3 loyalists to Britain and 1/3 "undecided".
That seems to be just about where we are today -- for "loyalists" think Democrats, media, academia, etc.
For "undecided" think persuadable, given good leadership from our patriots.
Hard-core patriots were never that many, it was often a very close-fought battle, we didn't win them all.
About like today.
That’s really the spirit. Never become disheartened even when the consensus is wrong – there is no shame in loving your country however infested with traitors it might become.
