This month, climate change celebrates its 33rd birthday. On June 23, 1988, NASA scientist James Hansen testified that the greenhouse effect had been detected. “Global Warming Has Begun,” The New York Times declared the next day. Indeed, it had. A year older than Alexander the Great when he died, climate change took less than one-third of a century to conquer the West.
Four days earlier, the Toronto G7 had agreed that global climate change required “priority attention.” Before the month was out, the Toronto climate conference declared that humanity was conducting an uncontrolled experiment “whose ultimate consequences could be second only to a global nuclear war.” In September, Margaret Thatcher gave her famous speech to the Royal Society, warning of a global heat trap. “We are told,” although she didn’t say by whom, “that a warming of one degree centigrade per decade would greatly exceed the capacity of our natural habitat to cope,” an estimate that turned out to be a wild exaggeration. Observed warming since then has been closer to one-tenth of one degree centigrade per decade. Two months later, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) held its inaugural meeting in Geneva.
The tendency to catastrophism was present at the outset of global warming. The previous year, at a secretive meeting of scientists that included the IPCC’s first chair, it had been recognized that traditional cost-benefit analysis was inappropriate, on account of the “risk of major transformations of the world of future generations.” The logic of this argument requires that climate change be presented as potentially catastrophic—otherwise, the cure would appear worse than the putative disease.
Although catastrophism gave climate change emotive power, the most consistent feature of climate change is the failure of predictions of catastrophe to materialize.

Global warming is the same fear antient cultures had about angering the gods.
It seems like humans have a primative psychological need? to fear the world’s distruction.
While others humans have a need to think they can actually “save the planet”
And of course the solution to appease the gods is human sacrifice.
Same as global warming demands some ritualistic sacrifice...$$$
I remember reading, back around 1979-1982, an article in which the term GREENHOUSE EFFECT would no longer be used as it was false. If I remember, it was in Popular Science or one of the other popular magazines at that time.

I can only assume I wasn’t paying attention the three times over the world has ended over this time period. I’m still waiting on the Ice Age from the seventies first.
In the olden days, if there was drought or famine, excess cold, the priests would come out and claim “You have offended the gods! Sacrifice your children to appease them!”
Today if there is drought, famine or excess cold, the New Age Priests come out and say “You have offended Mother Gaia! Abort your children to appease the mother earth!”
And sadly the fools still fall for it.

Yep I remember those shows, hated listening to the lies back then and still, hate it today, but the show was cool to watch, them dudes was nuts
Co2, in my opinion,p will be what the ‘great delusion that God sends will be based on, as the world fall for the lie, and governments use it to subdue the populations around the world. Folks won’t be able to use electricity or fuel or buy any of it unless they take the mark, and many who will be desperate to save their families will comply and get the mark. Not sure if it will be the sole delusion, but I thi k it is how a 1 world gov will control the masses

That's the summer I went to Airborne School at Ft. Benning. Hansen was probably right about the start date because I do remember sweating a lot while I was there.

Yup, here in Yakima it’s hot too!
And here in TX where it is normally helaciously hot in summer it has been cooler than normal. Weather is cyclical.
It was pretty damned hot there in August '78.
