'I Am Only Guilty of Being an Idiot': January 6 Defendant Begs Judge for Leniency
Red State ^ | 10/29/2021 | Mike Miller

A Colorado man who in August pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of “parading” inside the Capitol during the January 6 “insurrection” begged a federal judge for leniency, declaring himself “an idiot,” new court filings show, and repeatedly apologized to America for his participation in the day’s events.

Colorado Springs resident Glen Wes Lee Croy, 46, wrote in the letter to the federal judge in his case, as reported by WUSA in Denver:

I am guilty of being an idiot and walking into that building, and again apologize to America and everyone for my role in participating.

Croy apologized in a number of sentencing filing documents, according to WUSA.

One Capitol insurrectionist, who pled guilty to a misdemeanor charge early this year, and is currently awaiting sentencing, sent a letter to the judge hearing his case saying that he was “guilty of being an idiot.”#Politics via @PoliticsAlabam1 https://t.co/MESV8FV5UR

In his apology letter to the judge, Croy said he became increasingly frustrated by the non-stop news of the George Floyd riots and COVID mandates and fell into “rabbit holes” online, according to WUSA.

After Donald Trump announced the Jan. 6 rally, Croy, who was unemployed, said he used some of the stimulus money he had saved up to travel to Washington, D.C., to show his support for Trump. After arriving in the capital, Croy said he followed the pro-Trump crowd around and eventually into the Capitol building as the festivities kicked into high gear. The “caught up in the moment” defense?

Croy described himself as a “lemming,” as transcribed by WUSA.

I regretfully once again followed the crowd like a lemming. My adrenaline was up and I knew I wasn’t supposed to be there but I was in the thick of it by this point.

As filed by the Justice Department, Croy was charged with:

Entering and Remaining in a Restricted Building; Disorderly and Disruptive Conduct in a Restricted Building; Violent Entry and Disorderly Conduct in a Capitol Building; Parading, Demonstrating, or Picketing in a Capitol Building.

Croy pleaded guilty to count 4 (“parading”) and is scheduled to be sentenced on Nov. 5. Prosecutors are requesting two months of jail time, describing Croy’s actions in court documents a bit differently than he did.

He showed no concern for the severity of his actions as he engaged in criminal conduct as if he was on a vacation. He [also] bragged about and defended his actions to several friends, failing to see the seriousness of his actions.

Interesting. “Lemming,” or eager participant who bragged about and defended his actions? I don’t know. I don’t have a dog in the fight, nor do I know the truth about the actions and motivations of Mr. Glen Wes Lee Croy of Colorado Springs inside the U.S. Capitol or afterward.

But I do know the Democrat Party and liberal media lapdogs continue to milk the hell out of January 6.

I’ll bet many if not most Jan 6th political prisoners forced to disavow Trump or stay locked up in jail, will discreetly communicate with Donald Trump that ‘they didn’t mean it, but saw no other way to be released from jail. They saw no other way to get their lives back. This is the America we have today, quite similar to acts done in Russia during the Cold War and before, under Stalin.

I would have a hard time confessing or apologizing to anyone for simply peacefully following a crowd into the “Peoples’ House”. It is a misdemeanor charge. It was nonviolent and carriers a Maximum $500 fine & six months in jail.

I would refuse to apologize. Demand a hearing as is my right & let them find me guilty. He has already served more than six months & would be released regardless.

You do not ever have to show remorse to be released after your sentence is complete.

I'd all but tell them to eat the peanuts out of my SH!T.

They must demand their speedy trial rights. They are not being given a speedy trial considering that the offense carriers less jail time than they have already served. Their cases should be dismissed. They have all been held as political prisoners & it is high time that our Republican Elected Representatives do something about it.

Why there aren't any right wing lawyers OR at least a few congressmen & senators bashing the DC courts nonstop is ridiculous.

I’ve seen rowdier high school field trips than the ‘insurrection’!

It’s hard.

This is very hard. It’s a lot harder tren I was thinking it would be.

The reality is that we, or me, may not survive this.

My father died of cancer. And her knew from the diagnosis that that was that.

I’m starting to think likewise.

After the jail experience of these guys I would agree.

I would say and do anything to get out.

But when I did get out, I would become a very, very dangerous man.

This government and these cretins ate creating millions of people so desperate that they have nothing to lose.

This is how violence happens.

Although I’m not in the legal field, I consider myself as having broad general knowledge.

Am I the only person that has never heard of “parading” as a crime before?

I have wondered that same thing sincee Jan6th; why aren’t more GOP showing vocal support for these locked away people?
Rand Paul cannot and should not do this alone.

The most probable answer is many GOP are somehow complicit in this injustice. The quiet ones obtain some sort of benefit from not challenging it. That’s a very discourging answer, but the most obvious.

And yes, I would think a few conservative leaning lawyers (assuming they exist) would be eager to make their historic mark by defending these people.

Why isn’t the name of the judge mentioned in this article?

“ This is how violence happens.”

I think that’s what they are hoping for, for a violent reaction, so they can label us terrorists and have cause for emergency powers to confiscate weapons, and lock up more without trial.

Most of the Democrat DC District "judges" are just political stooges, like Roland Freisler was in wartime Germany.

Don't ever get involved as a conservative with the DC District - you might end up with a Lefty "joodge" [stooge judge] like Amy Berman Jackson, who allowed a rigged jury against Roger Stone.
