The Cuellar vs Cisneros runoff is all about the future of the Democrat party

Down in South Texas, you may be seeing the future of the Democrat Party, i.e. the energetic Left vs whoever centrist is left in the ranks. My friend George Rodriguez, a South Texas political analyst, feels that Cuellar will pull it out somehow. The final first round result was 48.66% for Cuellar and 46.62% for Cisneros.

The Cisneros campaign is attacking Cuellar all over on radio to TV. Someone is going to win and someone is going to lose but can the Democrat Party recover? This is from Texas Tribune:

“The stakes are very high,” said Jose Borjon, a Washington-based lobbyist originally from South Texas who once worked for Cuellar and continues to support him.

“This is a huge deal for Democrats,” he added, suggesting that this race serves as a proxy fight amid a larger divide within the party nationally. “It’s a huge deal for the mood of our country. It’s a huge deal in politics… because it pits progressive policies espoused by Cisneros over more centrist policies espoused by Cuellar.”

What makes this runoff so interesting is that Cuellar and Cisneros are worlds apart on abortion, the border, immigration policies, etc.

If Cuellar wins, what happens to the Cisneros voters? Are they going to bottle up their anger at Cuellar and cast a vote for him in the general election? My guess is that many will stay home or find some independent party, say the Green Party, to support.

If Cisneros wins, then there is a good chance that this district flips red in a red wave year.

The future of the Democrat Party is at stake down in South Texas.

Regardless of the outcome of this race, the future of the Democrat Party has already been determined. It is an authoritarian socialist entity that openly embraces neo pagan hedonism. It did not come to exist as such in a political or social vacuum. Hopefully, but not likely it will become a marginalized, minority irritant with no real power. America now is what it is.

Texas Ping, the Best State in the USA!

A ping out to the Texas Ping list, founded by Windflier.

Another special Texas edition for your perusal.

Cuellar is what passes for most (older) Democrats - almost conservative compared to Cisneros.

As always, please FReepmail me if you want on or off the Texas Ping list.

Blessings, and stay cool!

So true.

When I think of a mascot for today’s Democrat Party, I envision a POC Cuffy Meigs.

“The future of the Democrat Party is at stake down in South Texas.”

I think south Texas is just a microcosm of what is happening or will be happening with the Dims natioanlly.

But I think in terms of ruling clout nationally it is the “progressives” (Marxists who wear a “Liberal” or “Progressive” badge) that will prevail and run the party nationally. They will have the activist energy the moderates lack and they will work harder and spend more promoting their candidates (pro abortion, pro open boreders [disguised as pro “immigrants”], pro “green” policies at all costs, ect.). The moderates will try to focus on real issues - fuel and energy costs, inflation, jobs, schools) but their own audience among Dim voters is going to hear better ideas on those things from the GOP.

The Dims are moving as the Marxists who have been subverting them for over half a century always planned. It would not be a surprise to see them renaming themselves as outright “socialists”.

Texas Hispanic Dems are more pro business, pro family, and pro God than Dems elsewhere. And the majority DO NOT want the border being erased.

Thanks!

Anyone know anything about this?

The Supreme Court leak roiled the race, but Cuellar’s campaign was already injured from when the FBI conducted a mysterious and still unexplained raid on his Laredo home and campaign office weeks before the March primary. Cuellar’s attorney has said the FBI informed him that Cuellar is not a target of an investigation, and Cuellar has denied wrongdoing.

Cisneros capitalized on the news, raising a stunning amount of money for the race.

I think many of them will become GOPers over the next four to six election cycles.

But there will still be some Texas Hispanics who will remain “progressives” but hopefully we reduce their % of all Texas Hispanics, as they get influenced by their “moderate” friends and family.

I had not heard of this raid, but knowing democrats it looks like just another dirty trick coming out of San Antonio.

If Cuellar was not a target of the raid, then why target his home anyway?

If nor a target of the raid, then why no official announcement from the FIB that it had nothing to do with Cuellar?

It just looks and smells like the actions of a corrupt FIB and AG, much like what we see in Austin, and have for years.

I am sure that the week after the election the FIB will make a statement clearing Cuellar.

Cuellar will probably win the runoff, but Republicans are gaining in the district and could knock him off in the November general election.

Most of Cisneros’ money is coming from outside Texas last I looked. As far as her schtick in her previous run, it was all about race.

If she could get away with it, she’d label Henry Cuellar a White Supremacist, and truthfully, I would take a blue dog Democrat like Cuellar over a “One Eyed McCain” type or a John Cornyn any day of the week.

I live in this district.

The mailbox has been packed with pro-Cisneros material every day for the last two weeks. Pro-Cuellar material has been showing up starting this week. All very slick-looking stuff on both sides.

I’m also seeing pro-Cisneros ads on various Roku channels and YouTube - no pro-Cuellar ads there, though.

Word is that this was VP Flatback’s revenge for Cuellar calling her out on the BS at the border last summer when she visited and didn’t even tell the TX Congressional Dems she was going to be in Laredo and Brownsville. Cuellar cited that and the empty suit’s handling of the border as awful (100% right) and this was Hummer Harris’ way of kicking him out of the party...
