At least 5 people have been killed and around 50 injured on July 25, 2022, after hundreds of protesters attacked a United Nations headquarters in Goma, North Kivu, Democratic Republic of Congo, demanding that the mission leaves the country for failing to protect the population.
The protest started after President Felix Tshisekedi’s party and civil society organizations called for the demonstration in Goma after the president of the Senate, Modeste Bahati, called on the UN’s MONUSCO mission to leave Congo in mid-July.
The mission is present in the country for more than 20 years. It is the largest peacekeeping mission in the world.
According to the United States, around 130 different armed groups are said to be active in DR Congo, many of them concerned with controlling the country’s valuable natural resources such as copper, cobalt, gold and diamonds.

The UN is nothing but a cartel of commies trying to takeover the world. And they’re doing a damn good job of it. They should be kicked out of our country and the building in New York turned into a homeless shelter or titty bar.
A “boobie bungalow “ would probably have a better reputation.
Good work
Go, go, go!
So it was a “mostly peaceful” protest?
No…don’t…stop…
Something else to blame Trump for so he can’t run in the Congo.

At least in the colonial days, the colonizing country had an incentive in maintaining the peace.
Did the UN try to make them buy EVs ?
Hire these protesters to do the same thing at the U.N. in NYC...
Our unit was part of the Rwanda famine relief effort in September 1994. Most of our flying was into Goma with pallet loads of grain in burlap sacks. We did fly a couple of missions to Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, where we loaded up Nissan Patrol SUVs that had been donated to the UN and we took them to Kigali, Rwanda. Hard to believe that was almost 28 years ago.
