The author takes exception to being "shushed" in the Yale library "Absolutely Quiet Room" and other places. In fact, it happened so often she started keeping track. It's almost like she really is too loud.

“I take pride in saying that we are a loud people.”
Then go where they appreciate your rudeness.

A friend of mine worked for HHS years ago, carried out a study of noise pollution. He found that for most of the country, outside sources of noise over which the person has no control are highly stressful and can have detrimental health effects. The exception was along the Southern border, where loud noise was apparently the norm and occurred at all hours. Usually from neighbors’ radios, and people accepted it as such.

I absolutely treasure quiet. I am not rich.

Someone needs to go to the author’s house and blast noise all night, every night.

Many many rich people are loud and prefer noise. This post is strange. Some people in all income brackets enjoy quiet but the rich ones can pay for their own isloation when they need it.

Why do non-rich dumb people make so much unnecessary noise?
The less they know the more and the louder they talk.

I’m far from rich but the loud, obnoxious, emotionally charged, all around general ghetto rat type is the last kind of of person I’d want to be around. But that’s just me.
