Ashton Carter, who served as President Barack Obama’s final defense secretary, has died, his family said. He was 68.
Carter, who led the Defense Department from February 2015 to January 2017, suffered a “sudden cardiac event” on Monday night in Boston, his family said in a statement.

The article is very short on info but no one says that he had prior health problems.
Look, you guys: Not every single one of you is my favorite person. Some of you are pretty raw, to tell the truth. But no one can deny there are some tough times ahead. Seems to be a lot of this going around these days. For a long time it seemed people didn’t die of heart attacks so much. I wonder what has changed? Probably just something I’m imagining.
Our local paper contains the obituaries of a whole lot of people who have died much younger than usual. A year or two ago the 80 year-olds took a big hit locally. Now it is the group from late 40s to 60s.
