The Wall Street Journal published an excerpt from Mike Pence’s new memoir So Help Me God in which he talks about January 6th.
In the memoir, Pence throws Trump under the bus for what happened in the days leading up to January 6th.
Here’s an excerpt in The Wall Street Journal:
Thirteen days after the 2020 election, I had lunch with President Trump. I told him that if his legal challenges came up short, he could simply accept the results, move forward with the transition, and start a political comeback, winning the Senate runoffs in Georgia, the 2021 Virginia governor’s race, and the House and Senate in 2022. Then he could run for president in 2024 and win. He seemed unmoved, even weary: “I don’t know, 2024 is so far off.”
In a Dec. 5 call, the president for the first time mentioned challenging the election results in Congress. By mid-December, the internet was filled with speculation about my role. An irresponsible TV ad by a group calling itself the Lincoln Project suggested that when I presided over the Jan. 6 joint session of Congress to count the electoral votes, it would prove that I knew “it’s over,” and that by doing my constitutional duty, I would be “putting the final nail in the coffin” of the president’s re-election. To my knowledge, it was the first time anyone implied I might be able to change the outcome. It was designed to annoy the president. It worked. During a December cabinet meeting, President Trump told me the ad “looked bad for you.” I replied that it wasn’t true: I had fully supported the legal challenges to the election and would continue to do so.
Here is the ad Pence refers to:

Excuse me. I meant to say “Pence refusing to stall the certification process.”
You’ll never be President, Mike.
And nobody is going to buy your stupid book.
Mike Pence is a total panty waste!
the objections were heard and decided. this is simply a rehash
The VP does not have the authority or power to pick and choose which delegates to count. Nor do we want the VP to have such power.
Do you doubt which Florida delegates Algore would have choosen?
Do you have any doubt which delegates Harris would choose?
There’s a reason a fly landed on this sh!thead.
Mike Pence is hated here on Free Republic because he allegedly betrayed Trump. Many here think that Mike Pence indeed had the power to reject electoral votes.
Invest your 40 pieces wisely, Judas.
IMHO this was Trump’s biggest deficiency: He did a pretty good job picking Supreme Court Justices (most Republican Presidents only bat 50/50 with Supreme Court picks), but he did a terrible job picking anyone else. Not just his VP pick. I can only think of one or two of his cabinet picks that were worth a damn.
Nobody thinks that so quit trying to do the DNC trick.
The Senate and House have the Right to challenge any state certification to verify it. That was what was happening until Nazi staged her insurrection theater using Antifa actors.
They may get bought by those on the left paying him off in a way that can't be called a bribe. But they will end up in a landfill, never being opened.

I’m amazed that some here would believe the VP had that power. Do they ever stop and think of the implications? Would they have wanted Joe Biden to be able to select Obama’s successor? Can you say Hillary Clinton in 2016?
The Democrats had the Swimmer and now we have the Indiana Chicken.
Ask General Flynn what he thinks about Pence
No that not what we thought. He did have the power to send them back to the legislature to verify, he failed in his duty.
The objection process is there for a reason, if the power didn’t exist then why say “is the objection in writing and signed by a senator”
“the objections were heard and decided”
When? By my memory, they were supposed to be heard on the 6th, then Congress adjourned, and when they came back they immediately certified the results.
