Michael Moore was Close in his Election Prediction
Vanity | November 15, 2022 | Marktwain

Posted on 11/15/2022 8:14:15 AM PST by marktwain

Left-wing activist and filmmaker Michael Moore said Thursday on MSNBC’s “The Beat” that Democrats will keep control of Congress in the midterms because the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade.

More said, “They’re not going to win next Tuesday. I know it seems like I take a minority position on this because the media is full of a lot of how the Republicans are surging and the Republicans are doing so well, and so this race we’re going to lose.”

More went out on a limb to make this prediction. He was half right. The Democrats kept the Senate, but lost the House.

While Moore claimed there were "more of us than there are of them", Republicans got about five million more votes than Democrats.

I think Moore should be given credit for his half-right prediction.

Moore was roundly ridiculed on freerepublic for his prediction, yet he was closer to the mark than most of us on freerepublic.

While I intensely disagree with Michael Moore's politics, philosophy, and actions, he was closer to the mark than many others.

He has a pretty good track record on his predictions.

What is he seeing which we are not?

Michael Moore did far better than was predicted on freerepublic.

Well, it also depended upon a good bit of cheating as well, didn’t it?

Democrats will keep control of Congress in the midterms because the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade

Then DeSantis who is a big pro-lifer and defended anti-abortion laws in Florida would not have won by 15% and carried Dade County. Insecure mail-in voting was the difference. It will never be investigated nor changed until the cheaters are thrown out of their individual states.

Some republicans acted like they wanted to lose. Lindsay Graham made sure that it was going to be about abortion, and Trump made it about Trump.

He was right that abortion was important to suburban white women. In places where it was actually on the ballot like in MI then it seems to have made a difference. It’s a sick, sick culture.

He predicted Trump in 2016, too.

As with Carville, it is utterly dumb to the point of treason to ignore or discount information or opinion merely because of the source.

Much as with about 95% of the time someone uses the phrase ‘Fake News’: which is essentially supposed adults going around like little kids with their fingers in their ears shouting ‘LALALA I CAN'T HEAR YOU” because they don't like what they hear (yes there is inaccurate news, but only an immoral, retarded fool calls it such without close investigation, *particularly* when it is something they don't agree with).

Only an idiot and a failure discards or discounts information or opinion because of the source alone.

“What is he seeing which we are not?”

Moore correctly predicted that Roe being overturned was going to be a major factor in how people voted.

Conservatives largely ignored that because they didn’t want it to be true. Instead, polls were cited and cable news shows were referenced. Red Wave, Red Tsunami. An echo chamber effect was created. Other factors that broke for the Democrats were Trump Fatigue and Election Denial. It didn’t help that some MAGA candidates wouldn’t say whether they would accept the outcome of their elections.

Michael Moore did far better than was predicted on freerepublic.

Because the predictions on FR did not take into account the scope of the efforts by Dems to win at all costs.

You left out, probably with purpose, the massive baked in voter fraud via mail and harvesting. Abortion with help from that treasonous scumbag Graham did put the races within the cheat range. Looking at Az maybe there’s no limit to the cheat range.

Anti-abortion lost everywhere it was directly on the ballot. California, Michigan and Vermont voters voted to protect abortion; Kentucky voted 'no' on "no right to an abortion" and Montana voted down Born-Alive Infants Regulation. Not to mention Kansas strongly voted against abortion restrictions back in August of this year.

There is not one state in the country, even the reddest one, that wants a full ban on abortion. It's a huge loser of an issue for Republicans.

“Not to mention Kansas strongly voted against abortion restrictions back in August of this year.”

Yes, and that should have been enough to convince Republicans that it was a losing issue to the majority of the people.
I think the Democrats are going to get a boost from the Dobbs decision for the next couple of election cycles.

Republicans did take the House, but the margin is so small that I expect it’s going to be an unworkable majority. Democrats will only need to peel off 4-6 Republicans. I expect that will be easy with most R-congressmen from purple districts.

I did leave it out. You can scream Voter Fraud until your lungs fall out and it’s not going to make any difference.

States that allow mail-in voting do not seem inclined to change that. So mail-in voting is the reality. Republicans should start encouraging their voters to vote early and use mail-in ballots.
The next big hurdle is going to be ranked-choice voting and that is starting be more widely accepted.

Michael Moore did far better than was predicted on freerepublic.

That's because there are a lot more "people" in American society that are like him than there are on Free Republic.

This election was a vote against crazy. It reminded me of the psych ward, where patients get extremely anxious when a truly crazy patient was admitted. A lot of voters perceived the looney tune right as a bigger threat than the liberal left.

“That’s because there are a lot more “people” in American society that are like him than there are on Free Republic.”

That is correct. And it’s going to get more pronounced as the Baby Boomers die off and the Millenials and Gen Z take their place.
Gen Z was largely responsible for Democrats not getting wiped out in the midterms.

Trump is running in '24. Desantis will get crushed if he tries to go against Trump.

I predict that you will be voting for Trump in Nov. ‘24.

Get used to the idea.

Where else are you going to go?
