‘Ground zero of the Republican Civil War’: The Indiana Senate race could get ugly, quickly

At its core, the potential matchup would be an epic one. On one side there’s Banks — a 43-year-old up-and-comer who has tried to apply a MAGA touch to the GOP establishment. On the other is Daniels, a 73-year-old former Ronald Reagan aide who practices the genteel Midwestern conservatism of his late mentor, former Sen. Richard Lugar.

Burgess Everett is essentially Mitch McConnell's stenographer.

They're STILL pissed that Richard Lugar (Mitch Daniels' mentor) was taken out in his 2012 primary. Lugar was 80 at the time and running for his SEVENTH term.

And if you recall, Lugar in 2014 endorsed Democrat Michelle Nunn (his Senate buddy Sam Nunn's daughter) over David Perdue, for as we have seen, liberal Republicans prefer Democrats to even slightly conservative Republicans.

This is who we'd get with Mitch Daniels as a Senator. Another Richard Lugar!

Critical observation.

I have no doubt Mitch Daniels “Reaganism” will morph into “Rinoism”. He’s too old to fight for what is right. It’s easier to just “go along to get along”.

It’s Indiana which means it should go to whoever we nominate. Then again don’t underestimate the GOP’s ability to screw things up. 6 years of Daniels would not be too bad. I say go for the most likely to win. I was surprised Ohio and Iowa became more conservative as of late. Tough call really.

... Daniels, a 73-year-old former Ronald Reagan aide who practices the genteel Midwestern conservatism...

Wrong decade, pal. The go-along-to-get-along RINO with no backbone who has decimated this Party. Sheesh, the guy is 73! Go home and enjoy your grandkids.

Send money to America First candidates to oust RINOs.

RINO traitors are the reason why Democrats get away with election theft.

Why do you think George Will wanted Daniels for President?

"[Daniels is a] genteel Midwestern conservatism of his late mentor, former Sen. Richard Lugar."

Translation: ultra-liberal RINO and Deep State operative.

I called Lugar one to “give him MY opinion” and was told I voted for him to give HIS opinion NOT mine”. NEVER LUGAR. Maybe that makes me a LUGAR DENIER. (Ha Ha)

Richard Lugar was an Obama enabler. We don’t need a Lugar clone.

Bipartisanship or betrayal? How’d Jason Stephens win Speaker of the Ohio House?
22 Republicans have been censured by their respective GOP committees for this action.

Interesting, I didn’t know Daniels was giving up his cushy job t Purdue to run for Senate. I knew our RIOO of the first order Gov Holcomb was going to run.

Actually, Mitch was one of the most conservative governors in the State’s history and a great president of Purdue University. He pretty much destroyed the democrat party here during his two terms. Pragmatic, but not a RINO.

That being said, I’ve heard nothing locally that Mitch is running for senator.

Genteel Midwestern conservatism has to go.

My own state is full of this rot and it has gotten us nowhere.

For a very long time, we have had leftists (RINOs) being imposed on Republican districts.

It's a way of getting stealth Democrats into office.

The age old question when dealing with extremists, “Why try to be reasonable with unreasonable people?” The answer is of course, it’s a losing proposition. The left is interested only in what they want and how to attain it. Trying to be reasonable with them is always a losing proposition. Being reasonable usually means “compromise”, and the left never compromises. We are in a war, and the Conservatives better toughen up, and smarten up if they hope to survive.
